the bios is awesome---it works, but after some tweak my laptop can't start anymore. Only the keyboard backlight is on. It seems that I need some help to recover......

Try resetting BIOS to defaults by unplugging the CMOS battery.
When you remove the service cover under the laptop, carefully unplug the laptops main battery by unplugging it from the motherboard (it's the large black object under the touchpad area). You should also be able to see a round battery wrapped in black tape placed under a sponge like damper not too far from the WLAN card. The battery has a twisted 2-conductor wire going to a connector labeled "RTC" something. Unplug this connector for a little while. Plug both batteries back in after having unplugged them for a minute or two and see if the laptop will boot.

I don't know about your assertion, but for Brick It doen't help as CMOS is emulate into BiosĀ Eeprom so is in ROM !
