Thanks in advance! Smile
Well to get the exact BIOS image you have installed, please use this utility to backup your current BIOS image and send us the image. Please note some super sensitive anti-virus tools like McCafee this its a BIOS virus because its making a backup image, so please trn it off. Also, here is the model numbers for your motherboard for reference.

•Manufacturer: Asus
•Motherboard Name: P5BW-LA
•HP/Compaq motherboard name: Basswood3G-UL8E

BIOS Backup: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1525839/Programs...Backup.EXE

Also, reading my records it seems we came across this motherboard about a year ago. We should have he tools to take a better look now, but here is that link for reference as well (hopefully with a better outcome). Note that this was a different board revision, but was using the same ASUS model number.

+rep!
Thanks for the info on my mobo.

Alright I attached the file needed- [attachment=1059] (not sure how to link it right, i clicked "Insert to post")
Just incase I uploaded to Megaupload - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=644PWGXD

Ill be here waiting for an answer and how to for doing the flashing if possible.

Anything that can get it to help me overclock the q6600 would be great.
Unlocking the FSB & Vcore will probably be the most important.

I'll make sure to pass word on this site like they did to me over at OCN. There is always people asking for unlocking bios from OEM/Retail PCs like myself.

This is my profile link over there

Just incase you ever stop by.
Thanks for the rep and recommendation! I'm completing the request results now.

Update: I am encountering the same issue that we had when we wanted to do it on the other request mentioned, I can't open it. I finally extracted all the ROMs out of the BIOS and did confirm the bios type as Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG so I will need some time to check and see if there are any options in there the manual way.

Well, after doing it manually I think you'll find this interesting. I compiled a complete list of strings that show in your BIOS menu. One particular thing that did pop out was Hyperthreading, HPET support, C1E, and CPU VID Control. I have uploaded this txt output for you to read yourself.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1525839/In%20Pro...encode.txt

So look through that and see if anything pops out at you that you need. I cannot get it to open in any of my tools so it would be a manual hex job to unlock whatever shows in the text. What may be of more use at this point is if you have a spare BIOS chip we could test the ASUS retail equivalent because the board is an ASUS by nature simply rebranded under HP.

Hope this helps,
TheWiz
Awesome! Thanks for this.
I'll look into it and see what I can use.

No way ill be able to use Hyper-Threading though. Big Grin
Sorry for the late response, and nope don't have a spare BIOS chip. Wouldn't even know how to change or get one. Sad

Things I can probably use.

CPU Frequency Multiplier
CPU Temperature
CPU Fan Speed
CPU VID

Clk/Voltage

System Fan Speed
Fan Control
Enable/Disable the control of the
system/CPU fan speed by changing the fan voltage.

Question...
What do you think these will do?

Advanced BIOS Features
Advanced Chipset Features
So ....

Any progress here ?

I actually have this same M/B with a slightly newer version (5.09) of the BIOS.

I think that I may have damaged mine so ...

I'm actually actually looking for a stock/unmodified copy of the 5.09 or, if somebody has a newer one, even better Smile

BTW, this is for the Basswood3G-UL8E and NOT the Buckeye, Basswood or Basswood2. Those are all very different and can not support Core 2 Quad CPUs, AFAIK.

This Basswood3G definitely does !

TIA,

bisk

Hate to bump this but I have this exact motherboard and need to unlock OC abilities, any options you can unlock for me are greatly appreciated. I can post my ROM file if needed. TIA
