Finally flashed the mod bios under DOS. E5450 ordered from ebay is on its way. Hope everything will go well. Will report back when I receive it.

My E5450 (E0 stepping) has arrived. But I have a issue. It boot into windows 10 without problem, but cpu-z only report its speed as 2.4Ghz (266*9). This cpu should be 333*9=3.0Ghz. Anyone has the same problem?

Problem has been fixed. The reason is one of the pin in the socket was bended, fixed it and now all is good.
I know that this is a GOOD long while after this thread has died, but I'd like to know some things.

First: How did you extract the .ROM and .BIN files from the 530_1018.EXE?

Second: Why has everyone neglected to remember the S-series Core 2 Quads? They work in the G33M02 motherboard, but they need to have their microcode placed into the BIOS.

Now, if I can be told how to extract the files from the executable, I can compile a ROM that will allow Core 2 Quads (albeit limited to the S series) to run on the G33M02. The only reason why I'm sure of this is because I had a friend that threw his Q9550S into his G33M02 motherboard and it fired up.

He told me that he modified his BIOS, but didn't tell me how to go about it.

Again, I will reiterate what I said prior.

If someone tells me HOW to extract the .ROM and .BIN files from the .EXE, I'll compile a ROM that will allow C2Q to work.
Hey Kaorun, I'm interested in doing the same thing. I read of several instances where people successfully added S series C2Q chips to the Inspiron 530 (G33M02) so I went ahead and bought and installled a Q9550S. However, when I attempted to boot, I got nothing, just spinning fans - no boot, no beeping. I was about ready to give up on it when I came across your post confirming bios mods so now I'm exploring that route.

When you run 530_1018.EXE, it creates a new folder in the %temp% directory that contains the files. Make sure you don't press the update button. Save a copy of the new folder somewhere else and exit the dialog box.

Hope this helps... Time allowing, I want to look into this some more myself
Today I made another attempt with the Q9950S. I inserted the microcodes as detailed on deliddeds website. Unfortunately, the computer still didn't boot. In hindsight, I shouldn't have been surprised since both the quad and dual core 530 models have always shared the same bios with the same microcodes inside. Not sure where to go from here, but most likely I'll get rid of the Q9550S and stick with dual core instead.

I've specifically read of several cases where the G33M02 motherboard was used with the Q9550S , but there's never been any instructions on how to do it and it seems like those parts of the internet are disappearing as they're usually at least 5 years old by now. Good luck to anybody else that wants to try it, but earlier in this thread another person commented that a lower watt Xeon quad never worked either.

Hi, do you happen to still have this bios file?  I have the Inspiron 530 white desktop and I've got Sierra installed on mine but I'd like to be able to run Core 2 Quad cpu on it. But the bios I flashed a couple years ago doesn't support the quad core cpus. Anyone here has any input on this?
I just want to poke my head in and thank everyone in this thread so much. The new BIOS worked like a charm and now I can boot an SSD in AHCI mode without any issues. You guys are just incredible.
Loaded all the bios updaters and I just get failed to load drivers?
Surprised to see this post still going.

I've read it both ways, so I'm asking a little more clarification.

Will the G33M02 support an E5450 or will it only support the Dual Core Xeons?

Thanks

NO it will NOT support E5450. G33M02 does support it. You need G33M03.
It may support Dual-core Xeons but why bother for slight performance gain.
