Only a question, how tools do you use to edit this BIOS? I try with Phoenix BIOS editor but without result...
phoenix bios editor corrupts the bioses ................ just use it as a simulator .
use andy`s tool and hex editor to manually edit the bios .
just try the unlocked bios and i will wait your reply .

I have also the dell studio 1749. And I tried your unlock, but it says my bios version is newer so it will not change it.
you can flash from dos or use modified win flash utility to prevent this message .

Alright. Ill try that out, and post back in a few min of what I got.
UPDATE: I used ph1614.exe to flash it in dos. But it is stalling on this part.
"Identifying flash memory part type 15:38:46( B) " I believe that is the time.
Its still trying to read your rom.
It is prob because I can't find a newer flash utility for it. I can only find the 2002 one.
you can use other version of the phlash16.exe as not all version will work correctly with all bioses .
Alright it is still not working.
Here is what I'm doing.
When I enter Dos.
phlash16.exe bios_slic.rom
I enter that but it says I cant open that rom. So I changed the name to bios_n.rom
And that worked.
It loads it but that is all it does it doesnt flash my bios.
Its the same with phlash, phlash16 ph1614
