KhronX, Thanks for the info...
I started Flash not WinUPTP as administrator and the window that comes up allows me to search for files but only one that shows is the *.fd When you ran WinUPTP did you pass it any options? Also did you run it as administrator?
NEED HELP - Have TP Edge420 (1141-57U) trying to flash modded bios Thinkpad_Edge_E520_420_525_425_8huj17usNWL.rar. Original flashed OK, but modded doesn't. Using winflash gives me 'Cannot launch UEFI emulator' and using WINUPTD gives me 'BIOS image file same as BIOS ROM, no update needed'. Ran both as administrator, neither one resulted in BIOS being updated. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
Hello everyone,
Does this work 1.26 Lenovo e520 ( 8huj10us_NWL_ByCamiloml ) and after you extract the file how do you use it..

I thought I was doing it wrong also, then I clicked on the file wininfo, and it said flash completed.. and it worked.. Try just double right clicking, instead of run as admin..
juna1103, thanks for your reply. I went back, tried again and finally got it to take. I copied the modded folder to a bootable flash drive but that didn't work. After booting back to Win7 I finally ran the flash.exe from the flash drive and it worked. What did it was the Flash exe "which in turn runs the Winuptd exe", (must have been the parameters included in the Flash exe). Anyway, I now have my 802.11AC card running in my E420.
hello, can you help me to get rid of 0187 EAIA ERROR when I insert a Broadcom BCM4311 WiFi card on full mini pci express slot, which is otherwise meant for the w wan card, my details is:

Windows 8 Pro x64

BIOS Version/Date LENOVO 8HET44WW(1.26), 07-08-13
ECP 8HHT31WW(1.13)
BIOS LINK http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj17us.exe
I tried this earlier with no error http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-RE...646?page=2 but after restart it continues to show me the same error. is it windows 8? Thank you for your concern Smile I had already updated my bios to 1.26 using lenovo update, so I didn't even try to update the stock at first, the card was already inserted there in the full mini pci express slot, I tried to run WINUPTP.EXE, which opened, but clicking on next my system got hanged in win 8 x64, this was because the card was there, I turned the thing off, then pulled out the card, restarted the machine and then retried using WINUPTP.EXE as well as flash.bat batch file from admin cmd prompt...probably both haven't showed any certain success message or I can't remember, all I can recall is the cmd flash.bat takes a while to return back to the prompt after running the winuptp with -s switch (probably silent). I also restarted the machine each time after modification, one strange thing I had noticed while shutting down my machine sometimes after trying this method in order to re-insert the card is that my machine did shut down, but then restarted automatically and by issuing the shut down second time it finally obeyed me, verified this also. But after all of these steps whenever I insert the card and turn the lappy back on, it says the same 0187 EAIA data access error, press F1 to go to bios or esc to continue. Undecided Is there something I should disable in bios before trying this update? also despite being 1.26, my ecp is 1.13 instead of 1.14.
P.S. I never found the guide, I just came across a post for E520, provided solution by Sovem, and knew that 420, 425, 520 and 525 use same bios.

I just did something, downgraded my bios to 8HET41WW, it went ok, as i seen all status on winuptp, such as programming bios region etc. tried to shut down my lappy, it did, but after a few sec it started automatically, then I confirmed that i have indeed downgraded to the same by visiting the bios, then also tried to install the card after shutting down again, but on start, same error message.

Then I went to windows, installed original bios 1.26/8HET44WW, it also went ok...restarted the machine, verified that bios says the same version, then shut down the pc...but after turning off it started automatically after a few sec. Shut down again, and it properly did the same this time.

Finally went to windows, ran the Flash.bat....it silently did something in background, after it finished it displayed no message, then I checked the log file which says "64bit
Driver Loading....Driver Loading failed !" then I ran it again from command prompt in admin mode, now the log says
"64bit
Driver Loading....Done
System BIOS Version -> 8HET44WW
Applying BIOS Version -> 8HET44WW
AC adapter/Battery check....OK.

BIOS Flashing....BIOS Flash completed.
"
But finally after restart, the glitchy shutdown to autostart activity occurs once, I confirmed this, and the error still remains as i insert the card.

What else I can do?? Huh
