I know it´s really strange, the HP guaranties the compatibility with the P8600, but i don´t know what i have to do for the P8600 work.
This is the pdf that HP send me.
PDF
As you can see the P8600 and P8400 are both compatible, but they don´t list the P8700.
So, ther is any way to add this P8700 to the bios support?
(they have the same cpu Id?)
And thank you very much for all your help.
OK, Finally...after many attempts the P8700 finally works.
So i anyone want to upgrade the cpu from this Compaq don't use the latest Bios. I downgrade to de F61 Bios, try to install again the P8700 and this time it´s work. It´s a very good upgrade.
I really don't understand why with an older bios works and with newest bios don't....all i know it's with this bios work's, and i am post this to help others who want to do the same as i did.
Thank's for everything,
Manuel
Seems HP is being sneaky and dropping microcodes out of newer bioses again!
I can have a look and take the microcode out of the F61 bios and see if we can get the latest bios booting with the P8700 would you be willing to test ?
Admin
Yes, i can test it again...no problem...
Thank's
after some indepth reasearch the bioses both contain identical microcode so im therefore not sure why the CPU wont work with F63
Sorry

Just a thought, but it could have been a bad initial flash that didn't brick the machine. It could have allowed the T3400 to run, but not the P8700. Don't even know if that is possible and as I said just a thought. : )
[b]Hi Guys!
I would like to get some help regarding my recent CPU upgrade (failure
).
I have a Compaq Presario CQ6-214EM laptop, which has originally an Intel Celeron T1600 (1666Mhz, 1Mb L2, 667FSB) installed.
I decided to boost up the performance a little bit w a Core 2 Duo T7200(2.0Ghz, 4Mb L2, 667FSB). After the procedure, the system doesn`t want to start just blank screen and the ventillator turns off after 4-5sec. I researched, and the reason for this is the wrong CPU microcode.
I`m very disappointed because the reason of my purchase was the 667FSB factor as the AIDA sais this GM40 chipset only supports the 667FSB, and therefore this CPU seemed the most suitable (although there is T7600 for £70).
Can you please help me with a modded BIOS, which supports this CPU in order to not throw it away as a wasted money.

I have a Compaq CQ60 laptop that has a T1600 CPU (SLB6J) and I am wondering if the bios will support a T5750 (SLA4D). These CPU's are identical in core & stepping (M0 & 6FD)
Is there an easy way to find if the bios will support the T5750?
Any help appreciated.
Adrian
