Hi there,

Can't seem to find any unlocked version of my bios (Alienware 17 R2) ; hence i was wondering if i'd be able to get one requested here.

It has the 4710hq processor but most of the tweaks are limited in the Bios. Would like to change the power throttling limit and possibly unlike higher Oc levels. Currently im only able to set it at oc level 1 ..

Thanks all,

Jay

Is it possible to unlock the raid function on this Alienware , i think is an AMI aptio 5 bios.
RAID is enabled on this system by default, once you load optimal defaults, however the Individual options for RAID0-10 are disabled.

So yes, it can be enabled Send me a dump of your BIOS region via FPT - Check BIOS main page and see if ME FW version is shown, if not then download HWINFO64 and on the large window on left side, expand motherboard and find ME area, inside that get the ME Firmware version. Once you have that, go to this thread and in the section "C" download the matching ME System Tools Package (ie if ME FW version = 10.x get V10 package, if 9.0-9.1 get V9.1 package, if 9.5 or above get V9.5 package etc)
https://www.win-raid.com/t596f39-Intel-Management-Engine-Drivers-Firmware-amp-System-Tools.html

Once downloaded, inside you will find Flash Programming Tool folder, and inside that a Windows or Win/Win32 folder. Select that Win folder, hold shift and press right click, choose open command window here (Not power shell). At the command prompt type the following command and send me the created file to modify >> FPTw.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin

If you are stuck on Win10 and cannot easily get command prompt, and method I mentioned above does not work for you, here is some links that should help
Or, copy all contents from the Flash Programming Tool \ DOS folder to the root of a USB Bootable disk and do the dump from DOS (FPT.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin)

[attachment=16768][attachment=16768]Thank you so much for taking the time to help me.
The intel Me version is 9.1, build 1008, Hot Fix 30.
Why is there three files attached, are they all same? I see two have same file download ID, but last one is different ID

Before I send you back BIOS, lets test if you can write back BIOS region or not. With your dumped biosreg.bin still in the FPTw folder, run this command and if there is error show me image of command entered and error given. BIOS lock is disabled, so should be OK and not give error unless a FPRR lock is set Sad

FPTw.exe -bios -f biosreg.bin

Once you confirm that's OK, I'll send mod BIOS, if there is an error we'll have to figure out how to work around first.
Sorry i double posted the dump file.I dumped the bios again and wrote it back with no errors.
Should be able to flash back a modded bios i would think.
Thanks for checking and confirming stock dumped BIOS region flashes back OK, you are correct that means no issue to flash in mod then either.

Here is NVME Mod BIOS - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=07958950000834126635

Flash back via >> FPTw.exe -bios -f biosregNVME.bin

To install operating sysme on NVME, follow all steps exactly in step #4 of the "This is what you should do" section of this thread

*** DO NOT FLASH THIS BIOS if you are not user rband, this BIOS is user specific. If you flash then you will loose your Serial, UUID, Asset Tag, and possibly your LAN MAC ID and windows activations too - you have been warned!! ***

If you need NVME Mod BIOS, send me your BIOS region dump as instructed above

I flashed the modded bios but i got a message that it`s identical to the one on the machine.
Also still no raid option in the bios.
If you got a message about it being same, then it's not actually flashing the BIOS. How are you flashing BIOS? Do it again, and show me.
FPT doesn't normally say this, unless you give it the file I sent you previously instead of the latest one and even then some KB's would be changed anyway due to checksums always changing, time/date stamps etc.

Or, did you mean the FPT image above? That's normal, where it says Identical at the end means after it flashed the KB's shown, the current BIOS data matches file you gave it.

Anyway, my apologies! I sent you a NVME Mod BIOS (only), nothing to with changing the RAID Options, I must have been thinking you requested NVME mod for some reason!?! Sad I'll leave the NVME Mod there, and enable RAID for you now, sorry about the mix-up!

I need to know, if within the advanced >> SATA section of the BIOS, can you see the SATA Operation option where you chosoe IDE/AHCI/RAID?
Show me some images of your BIOS, especially Advanced section, if you cannot see this setting. Or, do you simply want me to set it to RAID by default and enable all RAID Modes?
Thanks for the reply , that picture i posted is from flashing the bios you sent.
I can set the sata options in the bios , but the raid option is missing so i can`t make a raid configuration at all.
I you could unlock that , it would be great , and if you could unlock all the hidden options it would be even greater lol.
