Hello, I bought a wifi card for my lenovo g50-80 laptop and when I installed the card I received the message "an unauthorized wireless card was found, disconnect and remove the card" something like this, I read a lot on the internet talking about lenovo whitelist. I read the hspumanti method but I didn't understand how I get to bios.fp. I tried to use the universal bios backup, however it can't identify my bios, so I can't do the backup. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thank you in advance!
Hi!
I have a little clarification for the method netman25.
if I delete the entire branch "DXE Driver {91472655-50E0-4D81-9AF6-239E6F431B8C} - StartUpMenu" i'm losing access to BIOS on my HP G62.
So that I had access to the BIOS, I didn’t delete the entire branch, but only an element "PE32+image section"

Not sure if this is working, but after some reading through several subjects and methods, what I did not see exactly is the following:
 • Instead of removing the whitelist => changing the exiting whitelist fromyour currently existing card (old VEN, DEV, and SUBSYS) to the new card (new VEN, DEV, and SUBSYS)
My spec:
 • Lenovo E535
 • BIOS: AWARD
 • BIOS version: HHET44WW (1.19)
 • Installed WiFi card: Broadcom (Ven:14E4, DEV:4727, SUBSYS: 060814E4)
Based on hspumanti's and eliquel's inputs I did the following:
 • Backup your BIOS with Universal Bios Backup Tool
 • Using UEFITool 0.28.0 (not the NE version) I opened the backup
 • Applying eliquel's knowlege about changing the order of bytes I searched for my VEN DEV. In my case it was 79E0EDD7-9D1D-4F41-AE1A-F896169E5216_LenovoWmaPolicyDxe
 • Right click and extract body
 • Fire up HxD and open the extracted body
 • Search again for the installed card (14E4:4727) - see attachment
 • There seem to be 4 cards whitelisted (1 above the marked one from Realtek (VEN:10EC) and 2 more below from Broadcom (VEN:14E4))
My idea now is, simply modifying one of the lines/entries with the VEN, DEV and SUBSYS of the new card, safe the edited body and re-import it via UEFIToo into the BIOS backup.

Does anyone has experience here and can help? Or maybe tried it already?

Thanks
OK, a little update from my end - the previous described easy way of mod is working straight forward Big Grin
I only had to consider 2 items:
 • The new WiFi-card also had Bluetooth on it - thus, I also had to Whitelist that VEN/DEV
 • After reflashing the Winbond-IC I had to go into the BIOS and activate WLAN - it was for whatever reason deactivated after the reflash.
Happy modding/flashing!
> Have an HP2000-299WM
Wanted to upgrade WLAN card from stock to https://www.amazon.com/HP-724935-001-Bro...B014VUDYJ8

Didn't know what to do after that. I've probably read 75 pages of posts. I am not a programmer.

I would appreciate it if someone knew how to modify this bios either to unlock for that specific card, or for any card. I understand from reading threads, that unlocking for the specific card, has fewer side-effects than trying to bypass manufacturer's stupid restrictions on what WLAN card can go into the laptop.

I tried inserting the new card with the laptop on standby, and also while ON, to read the VEN etc information, but can't seem to get that to work (so I included a link to the card above).

Thanks!

Lucky you! Hope it will work with my ideapad s145....got a BCM94352Z instead of a BCM94360NG, so i will have to make the bios swallow it!

Cheers
