I don't have windows and google isnt helping much. what can i use to flash this from a dos usb stick?
You can use an WIN7LiveUSB !
Find this one is the better one :

Hiren's Boot DVD 15.2 Restored Edition 1.1 (January 2013)

Then prepare an USB Bootable using that one and copy your files too into,
boot from USB and get a menu' choice Win7 and Boot into Win7 live version
from there You can execute any program !

I've flashed the modded bios on my Y470 to upgrade the wifi card to an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260. After plugging that card in, the entire system, including the bios, starts to lag really badly. The lag is not choppy but consistent, bit like slow motion. Everything, from the window transition effects, to the playing of videos, is like The Matrix.

I've tested an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 and it works perfectly. To verify it's not the 7260 I have that's faulty, I had it installed in an old NEC laptop that does not have a bios with wifi whitelisting, and it works without the lag.

Anyone has any clue as to what's going on here?

I'm having the exact same problems. Anyone know how to fix this issue? Or do I need to go back to my OEM one?

I'm also having exact same problems, including BSODs during boot-up. I guess there's no way to make this card work - it's too new for our chipset according to this thread on intel's forum: https://communities.intel.com/thread/50757?start=0&tstart=0 We'll have to switch to something else...

its confirmed that it works properly but please don`t use the attached flash utility as it didn`t flash all BIOS parts and as a result the mod isn`t written in BIOS , just use another flash utility with the same BIOS file .

Thanks for confirming,

Moved to unlocked /mod

After a lot of work, Ahmed broke the code and we have a BIOs without a whitelist!!!!

I can now run on 5GHZ wifi. It's quite amazing.

So definitely confirmed 100%.

And here you have with menus unlocked.

Thank you so much, it works amazingly for my Lenovo Y470. This is a pretty old post, but I want to ensure to anyone that is still interested in upgrading their WiFi card for their Y470, this method still works.

In fact, since I was going to upgrade my WiFi card, I wanted to go all out. So I upgraded all the way until WiFi 6 Smile Thankfully, we still could find mini-PCIe WiFi 6 cards with Bluetooth 5.0!

I've tested the Bluetooth and WiFi 6 and the performance was outstanding. It works flawlessly for me, just flash the BIOS then replace the card and works.

Some people mentioned about WiFi incompatibility with the CPU or lagging issue, but I've tried using my laptop and even streamed a 4k video and the performance of my Windows 10 is great and the WiFi is working as well. Streaming 4k Youtube was really fast and smooth as well.

The WiFi 6 + BT5 card I bought is AX3000H:
https://www.ebay.com.my/itm/154294687013

Let me share how I did it.

Step 1: Back up your existing BIOS (because backing up your original BIOS is always good in the event anything bad happens)
Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit 2.0: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details...olkit.html
Watch this tutorial on how to backup your Lenovo BIOS: https://youtu.be/BItGfpyyHnI?t=59

Step 2: Download Lenovo BIOS Flashing Utility

This link might change but as of Feb 2021 it's located here: https://download.lenovo.com/UserFiles/Dr...06AX64.exe

Step 3: Extract IQY0206AX64.exe and paste the modded BIOS, rename the BIOS to 1.fd and platform.ini

Get the 1_NWL_UlkMenus.rar from page 2, extract then rename to 1.fd.
Get platform.rar from page 3, extract then replace the platform.ini inside the IQY0206AX64.exe

Step 4: Run InsydeFlashx64 and profit $$$

Just run then flash your BIOS. Don't disturb your machine in this time and let it restart.

Or if you're lazy, you could also just use my configuration from Step 2 - 4 linked in the attachment that has the BIOS and platform.ini with the flashing utility.
