Hi, first check shows that the current BIOS supports only Intel WLAN cards. I have tried to insert a Dell 1490 PCIe Card. Result:
0187 - EAIA data access error-The access to EEPROM is failed.
current Bios 8HET28WW (1.10)

If possible I'd like to try a version with whitelist free feature (ignore ID's)
It seems Thinkpad Edge E420 and E520 have same BIOS
thanks in advance

sometime after BIOS upgrade, these new lenovo machines may loose SLIC table, so can you first
follow this procedure

Does I've waste my time?
Thank you for your fast reply. At the moment I'm not able to spend time for that.
Therefore I would like to postpone the request at this time.
It's already a great help for me If I know that a fix would be possible.
thx

Slic Dump see LENOVOTP-8H_V2.1.zip on:

if you need further dumps, infos etc. please let me know.
In the meantime I have installed Ubuntu 11 64 (works without any problem) and made first trials with OS x 10.6.7. The Bios let's not start Chameleon bootloader.
It seems EFI and/or HFS+ is not supported. On different other PC's the HD and a second USB stick starts Chameleon without a problem.
thx

Sorry, I need a hint. I have now W7 64 running. Original Lenovo Bios Tool is installed, the *.fl file under \driver\flash\... is replaced. The WINUPD.exe from Lenovo means same Bios version and stop. Winflash can't handle *.fl.
On a USB DOS Boot stick I have the same behavior.
Please assist me with an short description or forum link.
thx

why searching complications by doing very risky manipulations,
extract Thinkpad_E420_E520_8huj01us_1.10_no_whitelist.zip, and Flash with winflash.exe

I agree but with Windows 7/64 Winflash did not work. Now I have installed Windows 7/32 from scratch. First trial did stop with missing device file. After copying FvRecovery.fd from original BIOS directory it comes to the Error: "Fail: Flash BIOS is not an upgrade (same or older version number)!" I have already added under UI Section of winflash.ini "advanced=1"
What Flag is to enable/disable to avoid the version check?
thx

rtfm: command line option /sd /sv solve the problem.
unfortunately "0187: EAIA data access error" comes with whitelist free version too.
But I have used the full size PCIe slot not the one with half size. I will try further and report my result.
thx
