Hello Everyone,
I would like to ask for some help removing the WLAN whitelist on my Ideapad z580
BIOS Version: 5FCN91WW
KBC Version: 5FEC90WW
Current WiFi card: INTEL CENTRINO WIRELESS N 2200
PCI ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0891&SUBSYS_42228086&REV_C4
Here are links to the BIOS files offered by lenovo, they no longer have the older BIOS for download:
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobi...064bit.exe
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobi...064bit.exe
I would post a backup but I am having troubles making one.
I have a DOS bootable flash drive and tried to use AWDFLASH to make a backup with no luck
Im am using AWDFLASH Version 8.93
Im going to try the Phoenix Flash tool next...
Will update with results
=UPDATE=
trying "phlash16.exe /ro=bios.bak" or /bu=bios.bak or both I get the error, BIOS.WPH not found...
Even in read only/backup mode it seems to require the original bios file for some reason
Here's the error I get from Phoenix UEFI WinFlash (note the NEW BIOS box is greyed out because I selected BACKUP ONLY)
[attachment=7488]
Intels FPT tools give me ERROR 26 (see attachment)
I tried this with the 32bit tool and the DOS tool booting from my flash drive. ERROR 26 every time.
[attachment=7487]
I would give the Universal BIOS Toolkit a whirl but s**t check out its virustotal page:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/672bc...417673334/
Is this tool legit? The SHA1 matches that of in the MyDigitalLife forum post.
An help would be greatly appreciated.

All well, so I thinks is something done wrong !
Used a Comand Prompt with Amin Rights ? under Windows ?
and using USB Dos env. have You set Disable SecureBoot ?
Would use these tools and post the errors ?
Abut Unoversal Bios Backup is normal to get antivir alert as It will read
Memory RAM/ROM Protected Area (as many Viruses can do) so It's a
FLASE Positive !You can use It disabling Antvirus temporarely.

Thanks for the response,
Nevermind I am stupid.
forgot to specify the BIOS flag for FPT...
it worked. (see 1st attachment)
Here is my bios backup, made with INTEL FPT v8.1.10.1286
http://rghost.net/59429377
I dumped it 3 times and verified the CRCs with rapidcrc to ensure it was good.
Quick Question though?
Should I update to the latest BIOS first (5fcn95ww) then mod it, or does the latest BIOS version stop this mod from occuring?
Thanks again.

Ok friend,
your actual Bios is 5FCN91WW version, so if You want this one modified You don't need
to update, but if do you want 5FCN95WW modified You have to update It to new one and then
redo the Bios Backup and I will prepare the Mod based on new Bios Backup !
Let me know
