I disconnected the cmos battery and left it overnight. The machine still can't boot.
I'm gearing up to rewrite the bios with a SPI programmer. I just need one that is compatible with flashrom?

Can I use their mod-bios on my acer v5-171 (bios v2.21)? I just want advanced menu in bios. Please help me......
Hi everyone, I've just joined after finding this site whilst looking into the possibilities of accessing some of the greyed out options in my bios.
I'm not even sure if this is the right place to post this.
I have an Acer V5-171 with BIOS 2.21 it is an Acer BIOS.
I did find an unlocked bios for it on here but it seems that would only work on the pc it came off.
So where do I start? I can't seem to find a start guide on here.
Is it something I can follow instructions to do or is it a case of uploading a file and having someone do it for me.

The Machine in question is an Acer Aspire V5-171-6675, i3 2377M, HM77 chipset. Currently running latest BIOS 2.21/InsydeH20 3.7.
Here's the situation: After BIOS revision 2.09, Acer limited the chipset to SATA2 to prevent hibernation issues with Windows8. SATA3 works perfectly on 2.09, but the problem with sticking with this version is the USB over the PCI-e port is broken; it can't see my wireless card's integrated bluetooth. Ideally, what I'd want is BIOS version 2.21 with a toggle in the setup utility for SATA mode: SATA2 or SATA3, but locking it to SATA3 would work as well.
I extracted my setup_var offsets, but unfortunately, I couldn't find any references to SATA speed.
I attempted to enable the controller through a DSDT modification, but after some research, it seems the Host Capabilities Register is read/write-once so a bios modification is necessary. I did, however, confirm that this register was returning 2h for SATA 3GB/s mode with some debugging software, so changing how this bit is set in the BIOS is perhaps the answer.

No one has solved this for me yet, unfortunately. With versions prior to 2.09 you get SATA3 but no bluetooth. With the latest bios you'll get bluetooth but not SATA3. Hopefully someone will come along that can do this mod to BIOS 2.21 so we can have both.

What is really essencial to me is sata 3 speed. My laptop did not come with bluetooth. Do you have the 2.09 version ready to recover the bios with a pen drive? If yes, can u upload it?
