Asus P5Q Deluxe EFI
#1
Hey peeps,

I have just found MMTool 4.50.0.23 which as I'm sure most of you know is capable of opening efi rom files.

I am a complete newb, and I am scarred to start replacing stuff myself in the rom. I was wondering if anyone else with some experiance is now able to add a new option rom to the efi beta that asus released a million years ago.

Hopefully if 10.6 or higher could be added then we would be able to boot from drives >2tb because of course this is a efi bios.

I have succesfully opened the efi 0221 rom but i really dont know what I'm doing and even if i managed to replace the option rom, I am unsure about how to flash it, plus i can't seem to find the LEGBK.exe tool anywhere. But maybe you don't have to use that anymore ? I really don't know.

I found the new MMTool at the website below.

website here (clicky)

I look forward to hearing from someone even if it is just to tell me that its impossible.

Cheers Rob

Try These and see which one works for that MB:

Nice 1 thanks DMAN999.

I've managed to do it myself now though. Sorry I didn't post it here sooner and if I wasted your time, but it might be usefull to someone else I guess.

I had never done anything to a bios before but after a few days on google, and forums reading unimaginable amounts of information, I have managed to add a new option rom (11.5.0.1111) and also added a asus 2.1 slic.

Everything seems to be working ok including booting from a 3.6tb raid 0 array.

The only problems are what was there already, which was windows only displaying 7gb of my 8gb ram useable, and a couple of other minor things. Maybe someone knows a fix for these problems like replacing the memory table etc.

At the moment this is still beyond me but who knows in a few days I might figure it out.

If anyone wants this bios let me know.

Hello.
I know that this is old post so it may be already forgotten but I would like to know, if there is a BIOS fix available for the memory allocation problem. I also have the problem with the 7GB out of 8GB usable thing (because there is only one version of the EFI BIOS Beta available). I have 4x 2GB RAM modules of DDR2 1066MHz. I was trying slot combinations like 1 2 3 4, 1 3, 2 4, 1 2 3, 1, 4 but only if there was 2GB RAM present the System Reserved status was 3MB but if I used 4GB or more, the System Reserved was always 1GB. I was also searching in AMIBCP and MMTool but I'm clueless. If only I was able to find what to change and where to do it myself. It would be nice to have fully working UEFI (at least for the memory problem) on P5Q Deluxe.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Were you able to find a solution for that? I was able to install a UEFI windows and it is amazing to see a motherboard 2008 boots up uefi windows but that memory issue is annoying and couldn't find any way to fix it.
