I have tried all the tools on this site and I cannot mod the BIOS myself. Please help! I have a SLIC 2.0 BIOS & need 2.1.

There you go. Flash O960-A18.exe bios first, then modified version. Let me know.

Modifier : Pichu
SLIC: Dell 2.1
SLP: Dell
Cert: Dell
Modded with Phoenix Tool 1.93
Mod method: SSV2

Laptop: Acer Aspire 7 715-41G

Thanks for your effort but it didn't work.

Possibly because SLIC Toolkit says there is no existing SLIC Table on the computer. Even with A18 BIOS installed.

SLIC Toolkit now says there's an error. See attached pic.

UPDATE! So, the 1st machine I tried your MOD on didn't work. It is an N-Series 960 (No Microsoft COA originally came with the computer and has no SLIC table). The 2nd machine I tried the MOD on DID WORK!! (It has a Vista COA and a SLIC 2.0). Now SLIC Toolkit says it has a validated Slic 2.1 BIOS. So thanks.

But my primary work PC is an N-Series and I would really really like to get a SLIC 2.1 working on it. Your BIOS MODS are great! Right now I'm using a LOADER and it has disabled my antivirus, windows defender and windows security center. Which I don't like.

Is there anything else I can do to help fix it?

If you purchased DELL without windows.
Dell provides a tools which allows to change asset and service tags:

Change service tag from computer with vista coa

Download asset_a209 file located on ftp://ftp.dell.com/utility/ASSET_A209.COM , rename it to asset.com (just for simplicity) and put it on your bootable thumb drive.
Boot the pc with this drive. It'll come to a command prompt.
asset /s /d
y for yes.
This will delete the service tag. Want to change the asset tag? use
asset /s XXXXXXX (instead xxxx put asset tag from the computer with vista coa)

Do this only if machines specifications are the same (i mean they have same bios and similar hardware)

Then  reflash unmodded bios and after, modded one.

Let me know.

Having trouble getting on the site to post a reply.

Tried the asset tag thing and it didn't make any difference. No slic table was added.

BDMaster... Tried this and DOS replied with "invalid command".

My thought was to backup the BIOS from the SLIC 2.1 machine and copy it to the N-Series machine. I backed up the BIOS (8MB) and when trying to copy it to the other machine using WinPlash it said the BIOS was corrupt. Tried several times with several programs. It never worked.

I can see the ROM image in the GZ file. It won't write. I can also see the HDR file but have no idea how to write it to the BIOS. How do I write an HDR?

Hi friend,
your Bios is moddable by PMTool 259, but It has an issue and the tool cannot
repack to produce the Slic.exe so It need to reflash using this trcik :

there will be "bios.gz" there, copy that together with your original bios to a bootable flash disk
then use this command to flash It from CLI C:\ :

O960-A18 /readgzfile

So this is the only way I know to reflash It as normaly PMTool do the magic, otherwise
We have to use DCCU to repack It into an exe file, but I tried unusefully !
Let me know
Regards

P.S. this is not a DOS comad but the Original Bios File that can be used as a comand
to reflash the file bios.gz (is the .hdr bios file packed) !!!
So It seems like You have not done in the right way this operation !
You have to get into USB root place the original bios file O960-A18.exe
and the bios.gz and at CLI C:\ then execute O960-A18 /readgzfile
or O960-A18.exe /readgzfile
Let me know
Regards

Bios Backup can be used only by SPI Programmer to rewrite into Eeprom Chip
