Found a Non BIOS fix to get 5ghz Wifi N on newer HP Laptops
#1
Hey guys, I have been posting on this site hoping to get a modded BIOS so that I could install an Intel Wifi Card to access my 5Ghz network. So far all attempts have been failures

Until I came across the following Link
http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-pavil...v7tqe.html

I purchased the specific RALINK wifi card in that thread..and it works..on stock HP bios. Yes its not as great as an intel chip but its far less risky than a BIOS mod. I bought the card directly from HP parts store and cost me about $45 with shipping. I am currently online on my 5ghz network.

Read that thread for more information on which BIOS versions are confirmed to work with that card.

If someone can get the HP part number for the Intel 6230 wifi and give that a shot to see if it has the same effect?

The latest BIOSes are tough to mod and the admins here havent had much luck. Save yourself the headache and just get the RALINK. Ohh and the ralink card has blue tooth as well. FYI I have a Dv6-6b51nr quad core sandy bridge computer bios is F.16

enjoy Wink

The number in the end are the HP Part numbers.
