I flashed it but it doesn't seem like it made any difference. The flashing program didn't make any updates to the first and last section of the bios if that helps. Do you want me to re run the intel tool?

Also, I used AFU864 (which comes with the bios package) to flash the modded bios. Should I use something like uniflash instead? The Xeon was still in the mobo when I flashed for what it's worth.

OK. Suitable microcode was successfully injected in BIOS.
Go to BIOS and do Load Defaults, save and reboot.
Make TXT-report of CPU-Z, zip it and attach to this topic.
Run msconfig.exe, go to tab Boot (BOOT.INI), click BOOT Advanced options button, make a screenshot.

Ok, so it froze up when I initally loaded optimzed defaults. I was able to get it to boot only if I disabled hyperthreading

So it's not microcode issue.

The the Asrock mobo I linked (the 775i65G R3.0) supports Presler XE. It's very similar to the Dempsey Xeons, the main difference being a different default FSB. There may be some indication in the Asrock bios as to what registers need to be set to support hyperthreading enabled dual core netburst chips in the i865 chipset.
