There are a couple of issues:-
  1. When using Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit to make a backup of the Phoenix BIOS, the BIOS image is not complete. Platform data will be missing from the BIOS. It is not advisable to use BIOS backup to flash the BIOS. You can bricked your notebook.
  2. The latest BIOS version is 1.05, not 1.06.
  3. Your notebook have Nvidia Optimus. Disabling Intel HD will make your notebook unusable. Intel HD act as a display controller for both Intel HD & Nvidia GPU. If Intel HD is disabled, Nvidia won't be able to output the frames to the display because the route is cutoff.
  4. You can disabled Nvidia using DIY ViDock Setup 1.x. In the tool, there is a menu to disabled the Nvidia GPU.
  5. You won't be able to use the notebook full advantage/performance with Windows XP. It is recommended to use Windows 7 on this notebook.

I already unlocked hidden options in Aspire 4743ZG BIOS. It use the same BIOS used by Aspire 4743G. If you want, please let me know. I'll post the modified BIOS here.

If you use my modified BIOS image & you like it, please consider making a donation. Thank you very much. Smile

This is modified BIOS image for Aspire 4743ZG/4743G. It is based on BIOS 1.05. Use at your own risk! I really appreciate if you can take a picture of the unlocked options (the Intel section) & post it here.
Aspire 4743ZG BIOS_1.05 MOD.rar
(MD5: C53357DBD8C0B30DF96302D2AC38F2A9)
- Intel section unlocked.

Quote:NOTES: I have unlocked other menu as well. Please be careful with it. If your computer doesn't boot after changing something in the sub-menu, you will need to disconnect the CMOS/RTC battery to reset CMOS back to default. To do so, you will need to open your notebook casing.
Please make sure your notebook can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk before flashing BIOS with this modified BIOS image. I will not responsible for any problem. Good luck. Smile

May I know where you bought this notebook? I checked at all Acer support website. Only BIOS 1.05 is available. BTW, to backup current BIOS (1.06), when flashing the modified BIOS, please flash like this:-
phlash16 /BU /x /s /c /mode=3 JE43105.WPH

The above command will backup (/BU) before programming. This tool will backup current BIOS (1.06) to a file (BIOS.BAK).

There is an alternative solution to backup current BIOS without programming the BIOS. This method use windows tool, WinPhlash.
Note:
  • Since you're backing up the current BIOS in windows, two modules in the (backup) BIOS image will be a bit different than the original BIOS image; BB.ROM (boot block module) & ESCD.ROM (CMOS memory). The (backup) BIOS image is fine & you can use it.
  • Make sure you select "Backup BIOS Only" as illustrated in the picture below.
  • The WinPhlash tool require you to select the correct BIOS image even if you only want to backup current BIOS. In the "Specify new BIOS file" field, just select v1.05 BIOS image (JE43105.WPH).

(these pictures was taken on Aspire 3680. use it as an example)

Hello DillyBar25,

If you are certain that the two notebooks use the exact same BIOS version, then you can safely flash the modified BIOS image.

1.) Donate to one of various organizations offering medical, military, and psychological support to those impacted: Support Organizations

2.) Combat misinformation on social media.

Also, please feel free to PM me if I have not replied again about your BIOS mod request after 5 days.

Awesome thanks for the reply !
I just noticed that it is phoenix securecore v1.06
Is that the same as phoenix v1.06 ?

Thanks for your time
Dyllan

Edit:: Well I went ahead and tried it anyways but I cannot back up due to error 121 driver initialization failed
So I decided to go from broke and flash, flasher won't open as it's incompatible with 64 bit os I've tried running as admin also with compatability Even added it to dep. Is there a 64 bit version of the modded file above ?    Huh Huh
