HP/ASUS A8M2N-LA Sata 2 Support?

A longstanding issue that lots of people both on the forums and just about everywhere else had was the commonly available ASUS A8M2N-LA only supports sata 1 because of the limitations set fourth in the bios. The chipset does support sata 2 from what i gather.

The closest unit i could find to this is the ASUS M2NPV-MX. Nearly identical configuration. Identical chipset etc except the absence of digital audio out port.
