It was successful, or at least nothing broke.
I did it like this:

I have just tried it following the same method, it gives me this:

System BIOS image invalid or corrupt.
FFS checksums ......... ok
Erasing flash ......... done
Writing flash ......... done
Verifying flash ....... done

I didn't restart my PC to avoid any issues and having to use the HW flash.

It worked with the i5-3570K
I even ran  XTU and found that TDP is unlocked, I guess that was the issue, of course I wouldn't touch anything there until I save up for a Z77 motherboard.

I can't thank you enough, I'd love to donate something but I already spent what I had on this CPU, I'll make it up to you in a few days.

One last question, is updating microcode necessary?
