Just getting curious about bios modding and I have a few questions

Hi there -
I just stumbled across this site, and am wondering what exactly I can do with BIOS modding.

You see, on my computer, every time I boot the machine, I noticed something. There's the normal POST screen, and then it says something about Jmicron or something, and then it says detect drives: no any drives found, which I find mildly annoying every day, and I want to get rid of that screen.

I think it has something to do with the IDE controller on my motherboard, and searching around led me here. So I guess what I'm wondering is, would it be possible to modify the bootloader or the BIOS or whatever it is, that makes that screen show up, to remove it?

Usually there is option in bios to disable the controller or you can set the HDD detection countdown to zero.

I have looked through my bios settings, that's not an option.

Plus, the sense I get from this site, is that one should be able to customise their bios. Its about modding. Just changing a setting isn't going to do it for me.
