[REQUEST] Acer EG43M & G43T-AM BIOS Unlock
#1
Hi everyone,

I currently have a Gateway DX4820 PC. I'd like to know if there is any hidden options ,or if I could update my bios because I can't find any bios update for it on the Gateway website.

On my motherboard the name is Acer G43T but in Cpu-z it's Gateway EG43M so i'm unsure and I can't get information about my motherboard either...

Anyway thanks for answering!

Matt

Hi to everyone,

I don't know if this is the place to post this, but I'll give it a shot. I don't really need help but I want to share this with you guys maybe this will help bios modding.

I've playing around with my desktop this afternoon so I can try to enable some advanced overclocking options for my computer (Gateway DX4820-05H PO1-A3 bios). Yesterday, i I opened up my computer case and found it was an Acer motherboard that had the name of G43T-M, BUT IN Everest it said Acer EG43M (weird). While I was goofing around I came across a website that made me believe that my motherboard was the same as the Acer Aspire 3800 or Aspire 5800. That's where I got my updated bios anyway. Then I did a little more reasearch about the motherboard to see if I could find the «retail motherboard» . I came across this website that shows how to find the retail bios manufacturer. http://www.wimsbios.com/aminumbers.jsp . With this I learned that my motherboard was actually either an ECS or PCHips motherboard (actually I think they're the same company). I looked for some motherboards that looked like mine on their website and i came across this one, an ECS G43T-M. Not only it had the same name as my motherboard but it had the same chipset (G43 + ICH10) it said that it supported only DDR2, but I gave this bios because the G43 chipset usually supports DDR3 memory too. My PC booted fine I had to setup my bios but then that's when I started having problems. The PC will start and load windows, but it won't load my dedicated graphics card, only onboard(When I first booted my PC, it said something like PCI IRQ Error 00:02:03). The only other thing I could notice was that I couldn't raise my FSB and that the bios could'nt keep my settings in memory. I decided to flash back to my older bios (The Acer bios) but I still had the same problems with the bios. It's not a big deal I didn't care for that piece of crap if I can fix it I'll do it but if not I'll just buy a new motherboard.
I think I fried my Graphics card myself I had problems with it for awhile but I'm not sure...
Sorry for all the talking I just wanted to share this with you guys maybe this could help you after all. Everything seemed to work at first maybe I just did something wrong.

Thanks,

Matt

Usually the ECS mainboards are built by foxconn (or pcchips wich is foxconns lowcost division...) and usually a mainboard is what is written on the surface, no matter what the BIOS-programmer name it... ;-) And actually gateway and packard-bell and emachine are divisions of acer. If you have a little time and want to get a little more knowledge you can read about our discovering of the Nettle 2 (HP), the Acer E380 and several others.

Sometimes you just have to try to be sure it is not working...

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I knew about Gateway being a part a Acer, I wasn't sure that they would be using the same motherboards lol... I've read the post on the Acer E380 and it was very interesting! The only thing that I don't understand is why are you guys using the Abit bios instead of a Foxconn or an ECS if they are the one using it. Abit aren't making mobos for Acer right? And my motherboard really is an Acer G43T-M and not a EG43M?

We are using the abit BIOS because it is mostly unlockable and running the most stable BIOS...
I believe your board is an ECS G43T-M built by foxconn...
