Greetings,

Please excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong thread, or this has already been accomplished. I've been searching these forums for the past couple days and have still yet to find what I am looking for. Huh

My request is actually two-folded regarding my HP Pavilion DV2000. The first and my main concern is to disable the Whitelist so I may add a new Mini PCIe wireless NIC. I've included what I believe is needed to modify the BiOS if the Whitelist can only be modified. (If more info is needed, please let me know, and I'll do my best to accommodate quickly)

The second part of my request, and one that may not be as accommodating, I would like to be able to upgrade my HDD to a SSD. However, I have no option to configure AHCI in BiOS.

Would it be possible to modify the BiOS for both? If not, I'd be very happy with just being able to use my new Wireless NIC.

Details as Follows:

Old Wireless Card:
Intel® PRO/Wireless WM3945ABG

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&SUBSYS_135B103C&REV_02
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&SUBSYS_135B103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&CC_0280

New Wireless Card:
Intel 7260HMW IEEE 802.11AC, dual-band, 2x2 Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth 4.0 Mini PCI Express combo Adapter

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B1&SUBSYS_40708086&REV_73
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B1&SUBSYS_40708086
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B1&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B1&CC_0280

My Current BiOS, Phoenix Version F.39, can be Downloaded Here

Thank you so much for your time, and any assistance offered!

I have a older HP DV2000 (dv2317us) that the wireless card is dead. I got a spare laying around and need to have the wifi restriction removed.

Bios
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36501-37000/sp36869.exe

Old Card (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG) PCI ID
VEN_8086
DEV_4222
SUBSYS_135B103C
REV_02\4&84DF27F&0&00E3

New Card (Atheros AR5B91) PCI ID
VEN_168C
DEV_002A
SUBSYS_10671A3B
REV_01

I have attempted to do the removal myself but the guides I found online didn't match up to what I had when I extracted the BIOS with phoenix bios editor. Also the trick to booting up with wireless card removed then then carefully inserting the card while laptop is on works. But I would rather not do that all the time.

Thanks,
Danic

hi all, i have an old hp dv2308tx laptop that i need to change the wifi card on.
current bios is F.39 http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36501-37000/sp36869.exe
system board id 30B3
the original wifi card is intel 3945abg ven id 8086 dev id 4222
i need to instal broadcom card BCM94311MCAGBP2
windows gives me this info on card
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&SUBSYS_1372103C&REV_02
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&SUBSYS_1372103C
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&CC_0280

if someone could add the broadcom card or remove the whitelist that would be much appreciated.
also i have signed the petition on whitelist removal and encourage others to do so also. i believe whitelists are morally wrong.
thanks to all the awesome people who make this all possible.

Hi all, I have successfully modified my bios and my replacement card is working. The Broadcom card vendor and device id were in the whitelist however the subsys id was different. I guess that's hp trying to force customers to buy genuine hardware only. I believe this is wrong and encourage others to sign the whitelist petition. Thank you for a great forum.
