Hey, so I recently booted into Free-DOS and attempted to flash the BIOS with the new BIOS and it gave me an error:

"Error 208: Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space!"

If anyone could help out with that, it would be greatly appreciated!

Ok mate,
Now We have to see if Sleep Bug is Activate yet !
So put your laptop into Sleep Mode (just close the Lid) and then Wacke-Up It
(reopen the Lid), then redo the result files (I hope last time !)

Let me know
Regards

P.S. it's really important to check the Sleep Bug to bypass Error 280

Hi mate this is a Bios Backup not result file !
So do in this way and try to Flash using Sleep Bug the previus Bios Mod file !

Unpack the Bios Mod and copy the "modified" folder into C: HD root place !
Then open Command Promt with Admin Rights (CLI window C:\), put your laptop
into Sleep Mode (just close the Lid) and then Wacke-Up It (reopen the Lid),
after this execute these comands from CLI window :

cd \

cd modified

fptw -f bios.bin -bios

(or fptw64 for Windows x64)

Let me know
Regards

Hey!

So this is the error the command prompt gave me. I did just as you asked and executed the command after putting the laptop into sleep mode. It seems that there is only a file called "fpt" not "fptw" or "fptw64" in the modified folder.

Hello again,

So this is the result it gave me when attempting to flash the BIOS. No more Error 208 at least! I'm assuming this is something I forgot to configure or do on my part and are not sure where to go from here.

Thank you again for any help!

Hi mate,
I have tried into the past and get same result !
So only the Tools can do this job (SPI PGM + Clip) look here :

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...5#pid74575

If do You want to rewrite back the Bios Mod We need to use Them !
Let me know

Hey!

I guess if that's the suggested route, then I will attempt this modification. One last question though, is there anything specific I should be looking for when looking for the BIOS chip? Connectors, size, etc?

Thanks!
