[REQUEST] Pegatron M2N68-LA/HP Narra5-GL6: BIOS Unlock
#11
(10-05-2012, 02:52 AM)ahenley18 Wrote: I have a Compaq Presario CQ5210F that has the Pegatron M2N68-LA (Narra5) motherboard.

I do not have the option to change to ACHI, and I need it. please help me to get this feature or send me to the right place for it, thank you

I will also attach a rom with a backup of my bios.

I have a 5.58 bios from Pegatron M2N68-LA (Narra5) 5.00 from a HP SLIMLINE S5503W make sure you board is a match but it should be the same board.
Use cpu-z to check model number chipset on my board Is MCP61 NVIDIA.
It should be this board
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01701270&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=4005896#N90
date of bios 5.58 3/16/2010

Also what cpu does your board have? (side note question)

Attached Files
.rom   PhoenixTechnologies,LTD-5.58.rom (Size: 1 MB / Downloads: 115)

Manufacturer: Pegatron Corporation
Model:Narra5 5.00
Chipset:NVIDIA MCP61 rev.A3
Southbridge:NVIDIA MCP61 Rev.A2
LPCIO:Fintek F8000

I believe its the same, can you confirm if its the same for yours please?

I'm usually an intel person but my daughter school Pc is the s5503w and it only has the sempron 140 in it and hp website isn't clear about cpu upgrade compatibility but I do know the 215 athlon will work in it.

As long as you have a backup of the original bios you should be fine as long as you check your motherboard spec model number, but i believe there are the same board.
mine is a:
Motherboard ID 03/16/2010-MCP61P-NARRA5-00
Motherboard Name Pegatron M2N68-LA (Narra5)

There are about 8 or 9 different narra motherboards which are basically
narra, narra 3, narra 4 and so forth to narra 6.
some narra 5 actually are narra 6 and that is what gets confusing.
the Pegatron M2N68-LA is a cheap mans version from ASus made by Pegatron which is owned by Asus for hp and other manufacturers.

ok well i read on both pc's and the motherboards are the exact same so in theory your hp could use the same cpu as I have and vise versa, i just want to be sure before flashing you know?

also, sorry this my first time at this, can i update my bios with a cd rom or usb some way, how does the updating process work?

I believe this hp site might help you with that, i usually use ASus flash utility for bios update i haven't had the need for updated with a rom file for a long while .
