Could you please recommend me a good SPI programmer?
I'll be using it mainly for laptops

Just CH341A + Clip all are the same !
You can Flash SPI 24 / 25 Eeprom Chips (laptops and many Desktops) !

How would I be able to find the correct chip? there are no motherboards maps available..

Normaly the Eeprom Chip(s) are near the Chipset ENE and they are W25Q32BV or W25Q34BV !
So You have to read the Soic8 8 pins Chips to see the name and then post here !
