thank You for Your effort but unfortunately it didnt went well. I first tried the HPQFlash - didnt work, wont install the BIOS, it said the BIOS isnt certificated, or something similiar. Then I tried HPQFlash 4.30.10.2_patched. This on the other hand installed the BIOS successfully and promted for restart. I clicked continue, netbook started restarting, but never started again. Hangs just after booting up, the power led is constantly on (blue), HDD led never lights up and the wifi led is constantly orange. Computer do not make any noise, hdd does not work and fan does not work. The screen is black all the time, showing nothing. Only thing I can do is shut it down. I believe ist bricked, hope not for good. Please give me some advice how can I debrick it, if I can do it at all. Thanks

thank You, usb stick prepared.

In meantime Ive noticed one more LED blinking. There is a very little "A" LED near the left hinge. Dont have any idea what is it, I cant find any info about it, even in manual. Normally its off everytime, I didnt know it was a LED at all untill now.

One more thing - Ii dont know if its important, but Ive got Windows 7 installed.

hello!

unfortunately still no good. Ive tried all combos and even some more I found on the internet. Weird thing - USB stick blinks once after powering up and keeps repeating this one blink every 20 seconds or so. No matter which combo I try. But nothing happes besides that. Do You have any other ideas? I found some cheap motherboards from used models so I will buy one anyway, but still I really want to make the freakin thing work, and I mean work with the modded BIOS. I switched my network to 5ghz only, and either I made the [censored] thing work with other wlan card or I`ll sell it and buy something else. Thanks

edit:

found out that the strange LED Ive never seen before is probably the capsclok indicator, it blinks every second constantly. one more thing - what is the bios type on this machine? this is amibios or what? cant figure that out.

The bios is rompaq and if the caps led is blinking it should mean it would be possible revive it.

great news, but how do I do it? strangely theres very little info on restoring rompaq bios on the internet.

edit: ok, I found this: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads...s?p=112105&viewfull=1#post112105

and that: (scroll down to bios recovery)

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...sp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=130&prodSeriesId=471753&prodTypeId=321957&objectID=c00395630

Tried with the usb pen and the original hpqflash recovery and didnt work. I will borrow or buy an usb floppy and give it a try and let You know.

well I did it! its alive! the procedure above from the HP site is correct for mini 2140. You just have to have usb floppy, not pendrive, and make it bootable with this hp tool:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp43501-44000/sp43583.exe

Now - its there still a chance of modding the bios?
