[Request] Dell Precision M6800 A16 BIOS Unlock
#1
Ok so i came across this random post on how to unlock the bios via FTK
and use an efi boot file to edit the variables, so i did this and i was able to successfully pull a complete copy of the bios.
The problem is it was a complete copy of the whole chip and not just the bios, so i used another bat file to pull only the bios  in a bin file.

Now my problem is i cannot open this bin file in AMIBCP.exe to edit the bios because when i try to open it, it says some bios strings exceed max length so setup tab and other stuff isnt shown.

So since i figured out how to edit the bios variables, i figured i would try to extract the bios some other way besides what i learned from another post.

So i downloaded a few versions of ami flash and tried to use the /O command to save a copy of the bios to a file.

The problem is , it says it cannot communicate with flash.......

So here is my few questions i have now that maybe someone can help me with  Angel

1. Is there anyway to get a list of ami nvram variables and their meanings so i can look through them to see if i can find some type of other flash lock so that i can use ami flash to extract the bios? or if iam doing something wrong and there is another problem i need to fix with ami flash.

2. Is there any other programs you guys might know of to extract a dell bios from a dell laptop.

3. Any other ideas or helpful knowledge would be welcomed and appreciated.

GOAL, get a copy of a m6800 bios that i can edit in AMI BCP.

Thank you for your time in reading this it is very much appreciated.

So after countless hours of trying to extract the IFR Tables from the Setup part of the bios in my precision, ive kinda given up. my plan is to figure out which variables i can change with the setup_var command booting from a uefi grub terminal to "unhide" and unlock the overclocking parts of my bios setup. I originally found out that this was possible from this guide right here --> (https://www.nbrchive.net/forum.notebookr...index.html) and while the guide gives me some variables i can change it doesnt give me all of em, specifically the one to unlock access to the hidden advanced menus of its AMI Aptio IV bios, so I dumped my bios (version A16) and extracted the Setup file of the BIOS with UEFI tool, Ive tried countless softwares to extract the IFR tables from the Setup.efi file, and nothing wants to work. Any help with getting those variables or even creating a custom bios would be greatly appreciated. ive attached both the Setup.efi (here in a google drive link since i cant attach the file directly:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1je7udBj...sp=sharing )file and the entire dump of my bios. also here is the list of variables i do know from the guide (copied directly from it):
 --SMI Lock, Variable: 0x74

enabling read/write on the Intel ME  worked for me for allowing dumping of the bios, what you have to do is put this https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uV5XGXf...sp=sharing onto a flash drive with ventoy on it (you can just setup a flashdrive for UEFI Shell but ventoy is easier) and enable Read/Write on Intel ME. the command you use is setup_var i know what variable to change from a old guide but it was made for the A16 bios and might not work for newer or older versions, so the full command would be:   setup_var 0x2BC 0x01   (use at your own risk, if mess something up while typing the command and reboot you can brick your system, also idk if it works on any other bios version) also use something like UEFI Tool to extract the setup part of the BIOS which is normaly what you want to modify (make sure you disable bios check signing) then extract the compressed section, then extract the IFR tables and your usually good to go with editing (make sure to look into guides about this cause its really easy to mess something up, )hence why i have not been able to mod my bios aand am asking here for help)
