I've found the code in module 0B_14.ROM seems like in this case: Pentium D D820 support to Dell GX520 Bios
Try to flash my mod for quad cores.

Many thanks! It worked for both processors without problems! The animations from the splashscreen are gone, but they're not important anymore. Do the mod work for all Quad-Core-Processors or only for the specific ones above?
Let's go benchmarking...

Nice news! It should work with all Core 2 Quad for LGA775.

HI all I know it's an old forum post by now but I came across a dell optiplex 780 mini tower last week for $50 with the q45 express chipset and the LGA 775 I'm kind of confused on the above chart. But I was wanting to know if I could get a Xeon processor or an i7 or something with a bit more power that what's in it now.  Thanks in advance

Xeon 3300 series and Core 2 Quad (Q8xx0 & Q9xx0) are recommended.
i3/i5/i7 aren't supported by Socket 775.

I wish to use the chip above, however i get : "halt processor not supported".   Alert incompatable processor detected
