(05-15-2012, 04:41 AM)itrescuer Wrote: Why you need to mod volt use, my bios it was stable at 600 MHz the chip was design to operate at 0.95 volt for 650 MHz so you don't need to mod volts , you should use my bios update bios by running bat file load optimized default by F3 and check , you will get 20% performance update for Gpu and only 3% more heat .

I can easily overclock to 630Mhz chip / 880 Mhz Mem with AMD GPU Tool.
But to get higher, I need to overvolt the GPU too.
Normally, the 5650m is volted to 1.00 volt when under load, but the Sony Vaio ones go only up to 0,95 volt when under stress Sad
If I could overvolt it to 1.00-1.05 volt, I would be much happyer Tongue
Can it be done ?

Thx in advance for the answer

There is one guy using MMtool to mod the bios.

Checking...Still He says there's a brick danger 'cause of the "Vaio Bios Recovery" .... I'll just play with the program...recently upgraded to i7-620(ES), don't need to brick it ATM

Has someone modded a bios for the sony vaio vpcec2s0e - with the ATI 5470?

If anyone has could you message me the modded bios or could you reply to this post?

Hi there,
In older messages I see that BIOS AMI R0300Y8 (in my case for a Sony VPCEB1E1E) could not be modified due to AMI tools not being available, and also that download process from Megaupload was not available anymore (no surprise).
Did situation change? I mean is there a mod BIOS yhat is now available, replacing R0300Y8 and giving access to enhanced BIOS features like AHCI mode for SSD drives?
Thanks fo your help!

I would like to BUMP this thread, there must be a tool out ATM that can MOD the bios..
I hate using AMD GPU Clock Tool, firstly because i have to start it everytime my computer boots, and second because it disables AMD PowerPlay.

Please help guys Smile

I have tried for my self now, to extract the GFX bios from the newest BIOS file from Sony with MM-tool, and mod the bios with Radeon Bios Editor.
Doesn't seem that clocks have changed.. Any suggestions? Huh

I finally got it working! Big Grin
I took the modded bios file that itrescuer posted, extracted the graphics ROM, set the clocks to 650/800Mhz, and inserted it into a clean bios.
Works like a charm, everything runs nice and smooth now! The fan doesnt run on 100% all the time, like the bios itrescuer posted.

I have uploaded it for you guys: http://www.myupload.dk/handleupload/df83aRc8GSPDI

It runs perfectly on my VPCEB1S1E, but i can't guarantee that it will work on other laptops. But if you post your bios, i can try to mod it for you Smile

Tools used:
MMTOOL 4.50.0.23
Radeon BIOS editor v1.28

Hi,

I changed the battery of my vaio with a "not sony" one.

But the laptop seems to reject it. Even if the battery is correctly recognised and working on linux & windows.

Sadly it doesn't charge.

It is a VPCEC1Z1E with R0300Y8 BIOS
