Toshiba Satellite A505-S6005 - Wifi / Wilan Whitelist Mod / Removal
#1
Hello All,

I would like to replace my mini pci-e Wifi card with another. I would prefer the wifi card white-list removal, but if this is impossible, a substitution with my new card would also be welcomed and appreciated. Here is my info:

Laptop Manufacturer: Toshiba
Product Line: Satellite
Model Number: A505-S6005
Part Number: PSTA6U-005002
Bios Type: InsydeH20
Bios Revision No.: 3.5
System Bios Version: 1.40
Bios File from Toshiba: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/...t6v140.exe
EC Version : 5.40
Existing Wifi Card: Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC
Existing Wifi card info: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8172&SUBSYS_818110EC&REV_10
If whitelist removal is impossible,
New Wifi Card: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230
New Wifi card info: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0091&SUBSYS_52018086&REV_34

Thank you very much!

sorry i cannot find the string EC107281 of your card VEN_10EC&DEV_8172 in all modules of this bios.
What is the symptom when you insert the new card.

The symptom, on the computer under Windows 7 Pro SP1, is that an unknown USB device appears and disappears in the device manager. A pop-up message reads: ”One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.”

When I enter the bios config, by pressing F2 at boot time, the bios setup menus and commands appear to momentarily freeze, then unfreeze, executing all the commands in a burst.

Has there been any resolution to this? I am having the exact same problem. Upgraded WiFi card and Wifi works fine but no blue tooth. All is the same as above but with a Toshiba Satelite D650. Tried turning off legacy USB support in BIOS with no luck. (Read this may cause this type of error)
Note: The old card was not a combo.

Found problem was using an Intel device with an AMD chipset. Not compatable. Card worked fine on Intel chipset laptop. I have ordered a Broadcom device. Hopefully not chipset dependent.....

Any update to this?

I have the A505-S6009 which uses Intel cpu and Intel chipset
The new wifi card is the same as above (combo wifi/bluetooth) Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230

I swapped out the new wifi card and did the tape trick on pin #13 to block it from being turned off. Wifi works fine, I'm connected now to 5ghz, but I'm also getting the error message as above saying "USB device not recognized". I have tried manually installing the Intel drive but the device disappears too quickly.

Should I figure out a whitelist mod or is there a way to clean the registry and install the driver?
(this laptop didn't originally have bluetooth)
It also makes navigating through the BIOS really slow, it hangs, then catches up, then hangs,,,, etc

Anyone?
