U3 Cruzer BIOS Update?
#1
could this affect the operation of the bios flashing?

from what I've read i think it could

apparently its a flash drive with a virtual CD drive and the flash drive is a virtual representation of the actual flash drive

so it sounds like trouble to me

does anyone have experience WITH ANY BIOS (Phoenix AMI Award anything) using one of these drives?

and would removing this with the u3 tool solve the problem and allow it to work?

Thanks for your time

I just did a reflash with my 16Gb Cruzer U3 micro USB-stick and there was no problem! But I think this depends on the BIOS and chipset and their abilities!

Sometimes you just have to try to be sure it is not working...

Yes, I've flashed several board using my Cruzer 2GB and there were no problems. Of course, I got rid of the U3 software as soon as I laid my hands on the flash drive Big Grin

I just copied all the tools off the stick (just to have them back if neccessary) and then did a full-format. (ex)FAT is mandatory as sys-files are and depending on the size you should be able to set the allocation size to 512 byte...
