Will this BIOS mod work for my HP Pavilion DV7?

Hi,

I want to unlock the fan speeds on my HP Pavilion DV7-1240us with AMD Turion X2 Processor:

• Type:  BIOS

• Version:  F.49 Rev. 

• Release date:  Aug 25, 2009

• File name:  sp45071.exe (3.7 MB)

So I found this modded BIOS at this forum thread:

Will it work for my specific model? I've been researching for months.

Here's another post for the same BIOS request, this was a "Request for SLIC 2.1 for Win 7" but I don't know what that is but is the same file as the link above.

So I flashed the modded BIOS mentioned above, I get IDE, SATA, ROM and some boot options, but I wanted the thermal/power options to control my fan speeds. Is there a way to get them?

I'll have to power it up by an external USB because is a 2-wire fan and can't be hardwired on the inside as I understand.
