anyone know about peltiers and water loops? check this out
#1
i looked into thermoelectric cooling lately and i had some new ideas about combining a tec with a water cooling unit.. i dont know if anyone has ever tried to basicly give the water cooler a boost by using the tec just before the cpu water block. id be using a corsair h70. the idea is that water exiting the cpu area could first dump exess heat through the radiator then to the tec for extra cooling. the tec i would use would be able to pump out more heat then my processor at idle but not quite keep up at full load hence the radiator. i also think i would add 2 small reservoirs to hold the extra chilled water that would theroeticly build up after a while at idle.i also have some images of basicly the design of the loop for those who would be better off seeing what i mean. i was hoping since its not a really powerfull tec i could get away with air cooling its hot side maybe with a decent heatsink fan combo but thats the one part im really worried about. more or less im just looking for opnions ideas or any knowlege thats going to help me doing this

EDIT. since ive learned it would be better to have only one res and it be right before the pump.

Forget about it. The reservoirs will heat the chilled water. Anyway it'll be only slightly chilled. It's better to cool the CPU directly (well, not exactly directly but using a copper block about 5mm thick) and then cool the TEC (again using another copper plate) with your waterblock. Will work on very low end and cold dual and single core CPUs. A quad core will produce more than a reasonable TEC can handle with.

So either use a phase-change to chill the water or use phase-change instead of water.
