maxlem, did you flash the version of the modded BIOS with the dGPU overclock? There's post on notebookreviews forum about using this BIOS with Catalyst 12.1a to enable discrete graphics allowing you to choose which graphics processor you want to use. I can post the link
Hi,

I deleted the HP_TOOLS partition, used this file from win7, rebooted, and the flash was successful, for a time. I used the computer for a while (5-10h) and suddently the screen went blank and when I rebooted, I was granted with blinking Caps Lock LED (blink.1sec.blink...3sec...blink.1sec.blink...3sec...) and blank screen. This corresponds to a bios curruption error code.

I tried every usb recovery method on this site and forum :

- Used a small usb key (1GB), formated in FAT (16), named the usb key HP_TOOLS
- used both your ready made key and HP recovery software) I put the original bios F21 in Current and previous bios (S21) in Previous.
- I tried removing the F21 and S21 part in their names.

during boot-up I did hold win+B key, I also tried 4 arrow keys + esc.

symptoms : the led on the usb key light up during 1sec at boot time, then, 10 seconds later, light up, seems to read stuff during 2-3 seconds then shut down.

The laptop is still under warranty but I can't send due to work policy.

Thank you very much.

This one without VGA OC.
Thanks for confirming,

Max: this has been a common occurrence with this bios. Remove the CMOS battery and then pit it back and your laptop will revert back. Let me know if you need further info. No need to send for warranty
Already tried this (forgot to mention). maybe I did not removed it long enough?

Did you delete HP_TOOLS partition from the HDD as well? I would like to try rebuilding it on the HDD, can anyone tell me the exact size and file format it does have? What are the files in current, previous, new directories when shipped stock?

Thank you

Removed the battery for the week-end, it worked when I put it back.

Thanks

Would someone be so kind as to posting a proper, step-by-step, spoon feed guide on how to setup to the proper bios? i installed the moded bios pak, yet it LOOKS like nothing has changed.
hey, i am new here. ok so how do i get this bios to show mt those new options, when i flash the bios it works and reboots but when i look at the bios it's the same old bios, no new options. am i doing something wrong?
startup diskmanager, rename hp_tools to something else, then launch the new bios installer, then reboot, then consider donating.
i deleted the hp_tools, should i put it back? and if so how?
I do not have any advice if you deleted that partition vs renaming it. If you have deleted the hp_tools partition, ran the installer, and STILL nothing, then contact chamilio(sp?) and ask him.

my last post was a paraphrase from what he suggested i do, and it worked. i loved him for it, and donated.
