GIGABYTE M68MT-S2P 3.0 BIOS mod
#11
i dont know, i couldnt try anything cause the board wont recognize my pen drive.

just to throw this out there. i used this program called @bios that you get with the drivers cd and updated bios from a file and picked the largest file in the folder, it updated the bios and restarted (frooze first time so thought i broke my pc) just reset the pc and it started post, i went into the bios and changed the fsb to 250 and ratio to 12 and upped the voltage 0.025 and it didnt go into safe mode, booted up as normal and when i got to the desktop i pressed windows key + pause/break to check the cpu and it was still at 2.80GHz.

i went back into the bios and changed the fsb to 300 and ratio to 11, goes into safe mode.

load defaults and boot and check the cpu and its at 2.81GHz.

i dont know, maybe i just need a new usb for qflash to work.

Hmmmmmm... If you go into BIOS with usb drive in ofcourse does it tell you anything? Dross the post say anything about usb? Are you holding the right keys when you start the pc? I know, I know, questions... But it will help because it may be your usb...

well when i turn it on i press f8 to qflash, it gives you 4 options - dont know the first two, 2nd two are flash bios from drive and save bios to drive, i choose flash from drive and it says no drive has been detected.

im not sure about post saying anything about a usb, i found a different usb drive so ill give that one a try and note what i can so i can provide as much information as possible.

okay so the qflash still wont recognize any drive.

so what i did was go into the bios and set the usb drive as 1st boot device and restarted the computer.

It goes to a black screen with text on top that says flashing bios, it erases the bios and installs the new one (as it says) then a command line comes up " (C:/ " or something like that and i dont know any commands that im supposed to give so i hit the reset switch and attempt to change FSB and it still goes into safe mode.

Is there a way i can update the qflash thing or a way around this?

Hmm, did you try the autoexec.exe?

Okay so I think i figured it out, during post when instead of presing F8 i hold F8 and to my surprise it work and it only had one option under HDD-0-0, i didnt read, was to excited that it finally worked and assumed that all i had to do was hit enter, i did, updated the bios but it still wont let me change the FSB without going into safe mode.

PS: i did a quick format to fat32 and copyed the files onto it.

if i use the HP Disk format storage tool to make a dos start up disk with the BOOT folder and then copy the 4 files (autoexec, FLASHSPI, GIGABYTE-GBT-2.1 and S2P3SLIC.F1) onto the drive, will that allow me to OC on this board?

will that stop my mobo from going into safe mode when i change the FSB?

thats the whole reason im here.

anyways im just using the hp tool now and it takes about 20 minutes to do a full format and then restart my pc, ill come back when im done attempting to flash the bios again.

when i try OC, the only thing im changing is the fsb, is that why my computer goes into safe mode?

do i have to change the voltage control. can i change the ratio to 11 (14 stock) and the fsb to 300 (200 stock) and then up the voltage little bit by little bit until it works?

Hmmm, I'm staring to see what your talking, and its starting to buzz my bee, but I'm going to see if SW does any thing. You could try as well.
