Gateway FX6800 (TBGM01)

You cant change the multiplier. Check with CPU-Z after launching a cpu intensive application like Photoshop or something. The multiplier cannot be changed by the user but windows adjusts it up and down to save power when the full clock speed is not needed

There is a way to overclock your CPU, i have the same computer (FX6800-01e) and have found out that you can use setFSB to overclock your CPU but you will need extra cooling as the micro ATX board already runs extremely hot. if you get setFSB all you have to do is find the ICS number and input that into setFSB, which my ICS number was ICS9LPRS139AKLF, i dont know if you will have the same ICS number but i'm sure you do and by the way i'm am not responsible for any damages. setFSB just happened to let me OC my Core i7 920 to 3.1Ghz on stock cooling but remember the FX6800 runs really hot. I really hope this helps.

I ran Crysis and had to set graphics to medium...Yuck! CPU-Z 1.59 GHZ It said in the Bios I7 920 1.6 GHZ or something to that effect. Good to know about the setfsb I wondered about windows oc programs. I have an asus rampage II gene that i was thinking about throwing in this case. I know with it you do as much in an application as you do in the bios as far as oc goes. Haven't looked to see if gateway found some creative not standard pattern of bolting their board in. Anyone know if you can transfer an oem copy of windows to a new board? Ive heard in other places that its keyed to the board...or bios. I kinda think thats hogwash. Ppl kinda like to talk sometimes but this kinda sounds like something ms might do.

What Feature is it that down clocks for power saving I just opened crysis assuming that it would up the speed when I opened it. I went into the graphics settings and clicked the auto optimizer thing and it set it to medium I was running on high before. Maybe if I had left on high it would have bumped it up. It did say in the bios I7 920 1.6ghz though. I dunno maybe I'll try it again. I'm kinda leery of flashing back and forth though kinda a spooky thing to do ya know.

Came back to check this out after I had an issue with my windows 7 installation and WAT (showing not genuine). I checked the slic with SLIC toolkit and the newest bios from gateway showed slic 2.0. I installed windows oem on the older bios that i had originally asked to be cracked and it installed fine so i had assumed it had slic 2.1. I just flashed the newest cracked bios by 1234s282 and it also shows slic 2.0. Can slic 2.1 be placed in this bios? Thanks for the help.

Here you go , i used Acer 2.1 SLIC + Certificate Included:-

1. Copy and paste ******.XRM-MS certificate file into C-Drive.

2. After pasting this file into C-Drive, go to START - ALL PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - COMMAND PROMPT. Right click on Command Prompt and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

3. When Command Prompt opens, type at the prompt: slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\********.xrm-ms and hit the Enter Button. Wait for the Script Host to answer you with a message that the license was installed successfully....this could take a few minutes and so be patient.

4. After receiving the message that the license was installed successfully, type at the command prompt:

slmgr.vbs -ipk *****-*****-*****-*****-***** (Replace with any OEM SLP Product Key for your installed version of Windows 7 , they are not hard to find).Be Patient and wait for the message to say that the Product Key was sucessfully installed. After it says successfully installed, reboot the computer.

5. When you are back at your desktop, go to START - COMPUTER - right click on Computer and choose PROPERTIES and see if it is activated with an OEM product ID.

I had the same problem of being set to a 12x multiplier. I realized I could arrow down to the 12 multiplier in the bios, press the "+" key and move it up to 20! One problem solved.

I stuck in my 1333MHz ram hoping to get up past 1066 with the "Force 1333" bios option set but no luck. Is it working for anyone else?

Don't know if this is the right place or not, please feel free to direct me to another forum if I'm in the wrong place!

I have a Gateway FX6802 with 12G ram, I7-920, seagate 1tb ... usual blah blah

Bios is AMI P01-A0. From everything I read Gateway is not much on updating Bios versions but this will have to be flashed to get the new 6CPU I7-980x to work. Any idea how difficult it will/would be to have the BIOS written to enable 6CPU on the TBGM01 ?

Thanks in advance and again, I hope I'm in the right forum.

No guarantees , but we can try to do this , post a request in the CPU Support Upgrades containing a bios download link for your system and also a link to a similar board which supports the I7-980X Smile
