Hello i have dell 5559 with i5 6200u cpu, bios latest 1.7.0 that is an .exe file which unzipped using universal bios extractor to get rom file, i have recently updated my ram to hyperx 2x8b 2133 mhz with 1.35v requirement but my bios still shows it as 1600mhz default and even cpuz shows 798.1 which when doubled as its dual channel it is still 1600mhz and i wanted to update my ram speed and also unlock dvmt preallocate values, at this point i used uefitool and extracted contents of the rom and found setup and extracted it using ifr extractor and was able to locate values for changing the memory speed and voltage ( i am not sure again what my bios is either ami or phoenix as using both methods i read somewhere i was able to locatre setup and dxecore but not able to locate a specific fe****fe.rom that i should find in dxecore so i am assuming i have ami bios), anyways i created the bios and was able to boot to grub and used commands and it stays at the last line saying setting the values and reboots but the values have not changed, what am i doing wrong and is my bios locked and wont allow me to change, any ideas appreciated.

Hello guys, can anybody help with "decoding" attached dump file? Perl script (uefidump.pl) raising error. Thanks in advance.

Code:
Use of uninitialized value in numeric lt (<) at C:\Users\Internet\Downloads\ACER_BIOS\10\uefidump.pl line 245.
Can't use an undefined value as an ARRAY reference at C:\Users\Internet\Downloads\ACER_BIOS\10\uefidump.pl line 69.

I have found this (Google Drive) BIOS/UEFI dump in the internet (apparently someone dumped it using SPI programmer) for Acer Aspire A315-41
It can be opened with InsydeH2O-EZE tool without any problems...
Also, I tried extracting *.fd? file from update *.exe file. (download) V1.5 I believe...
I tried flashing older BIOS, and system didn't allow me to do this. (UEFI flasher and Fn-ESC method).

Problem is, I don't really know assembler, or anything, so I can't modify it, nor find out how to activate hidden menu.

It would be very nice, if someone who knows more than me took a look.

HP 15-bw053nt (in bios menu, it's called 15-bw0xx)
Bios version F51.Rev.A
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp96501-9...p96845.exe

My RAM supports 2400Mhz according to CPU-Z and HWINFO64 but it runs at 1866Mhz. I want to be able to change it to its rated speed, I guess I need the advanced menu.
I have an eGPU adapter on the way. I don't know whether I'll need to remove whitelist for PCIe port for WLAN and also disable the dGPU through BIOS.

This is not a thread to "unlock" bios.
You basically work around its UI, but the thing itself remains the same.

A modern tl;dr could be:
  1. Get your bios image (dump/download/extract from wherever you want)
  2. Open it with Phoenix Mod Tool (if image is not signed UEFITool should work too)
  3. Find SetupUtility module in Structures
  4. Extract it decompressed
  5. Open the thing in Universal IFR Extractor
  6. Extract it disassembled
  7. Open the resulting text file
  8. Look for whatever variable number you want to tinker with
  9. Boot in UEFI Shell
  10. Use setup_var command as explained in post #2

If one doesn't feel brave enough, trying to edit normally available settings could be a good start.

yeah this is good. if you need only modify setuputility. what about other bios modules?
have a RAM with min. 333MHz and other with min 400MHz. 400MHz is partially detected only with presence of 333MHz one, when alone laptop doesn't start. how do you find bootstrap min clock for ram in bios?

I am trying to have access to an advanced configuration tab or how I can go around the ui.
