Toshiba Satellite L550 & L555 (KTWAA): Update Microcode
#1
Hello,
I recently repaired a toshiba satellite l550(pm45,t9600,4650hd mxm2.1,ddr2) with a motherboard for l555(gl40,ddr3) and after having to replace the cpu with an 800mhz t7500 SLAF8 to get it to even boot, it pops up an error about microcode update loaded for a different processor. The error can be bypassed by pressing F1 but after booting it does some funky things with the thermal reading(jumping from 45 to 75 degrees celsius) and fan speed(although it works fine in windows 7). So what im asking about is if someone on these forums with the proper technical knowledge(and the spare time ofcourse!) can update the bios microcode to support the t7500 properly. Here is the link to the bios: http://www.sendspace.com/file/nh1e8b
This is a phoenix biox and can be opened in phoenix bios editor 2.2.1.3. Thank you in advance.

Sad
I am looking for an updated BIOS for a Toshiba satellite L555-S7918. It now has an Intel T7300 CPU in it that i changed out from the slower stock one. After updating to the latest BIOS from the Toshiba site, it recognized the processor. But now ever since doing the change-out, during the start-up, before starting windows, it dings me with an alternative CPU code prompt every time where i have to press the F1 key to continue to the OS. It has gotten annoying and just old after the first nite i did the upgrade. Has someone in here run across the same issue? and if so, did someone work on an updated ROM file for that line of Toshiba where the coding for the T7300 is written in? i could really use a fixed BIOS file to re-flash this laptop to get rid of this annoying F1 stage when i start up Undecided

Hello,
this is my first post on this great forum. I have this Toshiba L550-11J where the latest 6FB CPUs like T7500 are not "officially" supported. The Laptop works with the T7500, but throws the  02F0 Error on startup where you have to manually press F1 to continue booting.

The microcodes of the original Bios looks like this:
CPUID=10674 Rev=405 2007/07/20 CRC=735D9FE0 Off=1F20E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
CPUID=10676 Rev=60C 2008/01/19 CRC=FBAC0EED Off=1F30E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
CPUID=1067A Rev=A07 2008/04/09 CRC=83067ECB Off=1F40E0 Size=2000 Plat=5,7
CPUID=6FD Rev=A3 2007/08/13 CRC=89C0D01F Off=1F60E0 Size=1000 Plat=7

The CBROM Tools do not work so I had to replace the Microcode beginning on 1F20E0 with the 6FB CPU Microcode using Hex Workshop. I replaced all code until the size was the same:
CPUID=6FB Rev=BB 2010/10/03 CRC=E7FBF398 Off=1F20E0 Size=1000 Plat=3
CPUID=6FB Rev=BA 2010/10/03 CRC=9777492E Off=1F30E0 Size=1000 Plat=5
CPUID=6FB Rev=BA 2010/10/03 CRC=F953DC67 Off=1F40E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
CPUID=6FD Rev=A4 2010/10/02 CRC=9ACE6097 Off=1F50E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
CPUID=6FD Rev=A3 2007/08/13 CRC=89C0D01F Off=1F60E0 Size=1000 Plat=7

After enabling the advanced settings in WinPhlash64 and enabling reflashing of the same version, the BIOS had an checksum error and prevented to flash. I hoped the Patch64 did work but also just hang like the CBROM too. So I installed XP and openened it in Phoenix Bios Editor where I changed one sentence in Strings so I could rebuild the BIOS.

Now, the BIOS works and even shows my settings, but still, I receive the 02F0 microcode error message when starting the Laptop. How can I verify that the system can use the Microcode Update provided in the BIOS? What am I missing?
O have added both versions, the original and mine. Maybe somebody has an idea.
This is the first time I manually modify BIOS so dont be to harsh  Big Grin

Thanks a lot in advance,

Andre

Hello genius239,

thank you very much for the fast response. I directly installed your version  (flash succesfuly) but I still have the same Issue when the system powers on. It is same with my BIOS where I even added all 06FB codes that I found.

Do you have any more Idea?

Andre

Look at your screenshot: you need to add microcode for CPUID=6FA - https://github.com/platomav/CPUMicrocode...4B38D8.bin
