Urgent help needed.
#1
Hi guys, i've recently bought a dual core processor for my advent t9106 computer which im trying to change to from my pentium 4.

Now, i've identified the motherboard, AND i know what bios i use, but i cant find the damned BIOS upgrade! I've tried google, intel, medion, mircrostar, pcworld YOU NAME IT!

I would really appreciate if someone could help me locate my BIOS update, i ran a scan for BIOS update which offered to give me it for a price which i turned down but the information it gave me was that the latest version was created in 2007 and it does exist somewhere.

My motherboard is a MS(microstar?)-7091 ver 2 with a PHEONIX AWARD BIOS!

Help would be really apprceiated as i've been going absolutally mental over this whole thing an really dont wanna C**K IT UP!

Thanks in advance, Andrew.

HI presola, ive seen that thread before an wasn't sure if it was th e correct BIOS, ive been on the site sugested in that thread and i've found the BIOS, however i assumed it was inncorrect as the BIOS instructions are confusing.

INstructions:
Microstar
Bios Update bio7091v20.exe
5.0C
Supply date 18.07.2006
Made downloads 23168

Bios Update of the MS 7091 mainboard (Rev 2.0).

+++Instructions to update your system bios +++

1. Unzip the downloaded file into a created folder at the partition E: of your harddisk.

2. Afterwards restart your PC with the Application-/ Support-CD.

3. At the MS Windows CD-ROM-Bootmenue choose "Boot from CD-ROM".

4. After that select "MS-DOS Prompt" in the Application-/Support-CD Startmenue .

5. Finally execute the autoexec.bat file which can now be found at Partition C: into your specified folder.

6. Now start the update procedure by pressing any key.

7. After the bios update please reboot your system.

Please be aware that you noticed the original bios setting before starting the update, because some values may have changed afterward.

What do they mean by E: partition?

What application and support CD?

I assumed it was simply a download, then a setup, then a reboot! Not a download a reboot, then a setup!

Dont get confused , they are basically saying make a bootable DOS disc and boot from that. Flashing from DOS is more reliable than flashing from windows. Seems MSI have an application/support CD that has DOS on it. Its really easy to make a bootable DOS USB drive/CD/Floppy (Just use Google). You want to then put the bios file and the dos file on the bootable disc (Or in C: , which is what it says in the confusing instructions) and then type autoexec.bat to start the bios flash.

Please post a link to the bios file and we will have a look to see if it can be modded

Kind Regards

I've made a bootable disc and have put the bios on it(to my knowledge), where do i go from here?

I restart, then it scans for the hardware, then it comes up with options to select for load. I choose the first 1 and it took me to a DOS screen with "A:/" an from their nothing happens, i cant even type.

I'll do it again an put up the options i get asked to select from.

Place the bios file , the flashing utility & autoexec.bat in C:

Type at the prompt c: - this should change A: to C:

Then type autoexec.bat (When it says C: not ASmile
