Hidden options for Packard Bell MH36 (BIOS Mod in Post #12)

(07-10-2014, 07:30 PM)Sml6397 Wrote: Hello wign,

Recently, I have discovered ways to add even more types of settings to the BIOS than before. I can upload the new modified BIOS with just the AHCI setting added to the previous mod, or if you are willing to wait until tomorrow or the next day, I can do a more "full" unlock.

Hello t30485 and artic5,

Sorry for the delays. The BIOS mod is complete!

The original BIOS mod was one of my first BIOS mods. This one is my most recent BIOS mod and is of much higher quality.

I have unlocked the INTEL Menu, the AHCI setting (INTEL>ICH Control Sub-Menu>Integrated Device Control Sub-Menu>'SATA Mode Selection'), and 8 settings under the Advanced Menu.

Generic Warnings/Disclaimers:

Quote:Please remember to take proper precautions when flashing your BIOS. Even if the BIOS image is safe, the flashing process can still fail. Make sure that [if applicable] your notebook is fully charged (100%), that the power adapter is properly connected, and that the chance of a power outage occurring is as minimal as possible. Do not interrupt the flashing process. If possible, it is a good idea to have a working CRISIS recovery disk handy when flashing your BIOS. Use the flashing instructions for your particular computer brand. DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNNECESSARY!!!

I take absolutely NO responsibility for ANY damages that may occur to you, your computer, your personal belongings, your neighbor's cat, or any other personnel or equipment as a direct or indirect result/consequence of your, or any one else's, use or misuse of any of the files that are in this archive at the present or at any time in the past or the future. You assume full responsibility for any damages or inconveniences that may occur by choosing to flash, or otherwise use or misuse, this image or any of the other files within this archive.

Have fun! Smile

Please remember to post the results of the BIOS flash! Pictures would allow me to verify that none of the unlocked settings are hidden by special functions.

Hello artic5,

Follow these instructions for Phoenix BIOSes to flash your modified BIOS image. If this process does not work for you, then try these steps to flash your BIOS.

I flashed this bios on my MH36 and it works great. It is version P05.
I have version P10, can you also unlock hidden features on it ?
Seb.

hi everyone with an good old Easynote MH36,
I discovered that its easy to make an flashable bios file; in hex editor an original bios file (I used PBPE2L0N.P05, P07 and P10) has the platformdata at the end. The platformdata begins at 00200000 and are in all versions the same.
I copied this data block at the end of a PBPE2L0N.P14 backup (001FFFF0) and .... it is flashable!!!
As attachment the flashables P13 and P14.

@ Steven; I should very be grateful when you modify the P14 with AHCI enabled? Thanks in advantage!!
Jos

Go to https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-h...ble?page=2

there you find the modded PBPE2L0N.P14 by ~Steven (named PBPE2L0N.rar)
Works perfect for AHCI.
Do not experiment too much with unknown setting, only the one you really need and know.
My MH36 crashed when I tried all settings. As said, AHCI is save!
