Deleting UEFI Settings From A Laptop?
#1
I bought a laptop, but it was obviously a display copy, and it still has their company name as the main username. I thought doing a factory reset would get rid of it under users, but it still shows up.

But it turns out, after booting into Windows, it shutdown and locked itself and showed the companies address and mentioned an unlock password if I didn't have an Internet connection, I connected it and it rebooted back into Windows.

Is there a way to delete all that stuff, and if so how, because I don't want to have to go through the same thing every single time I need to do a factory reset?

Which laptop (Firm and model), Which bios version, Which Windows ???
To try something before We have to know that machine !

Hmm, seems I deleted what Windows it is. Brain fa.rt!

It's Windows 8, it's a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P, the Core i5 version.

The BIOS version is showing as Insyde 74CN41WW (v2.07); but I don't know where to find the UEFI version, also on the info screen of the BIOS it says "Windows license STD".

So It is locked from Company owner ? and Password is on User (Windows) or in Bios stage ?
If I understood You want to resetIt completly, but I don't know If We will be able to reinstall Win8 after that !
We have to reflash bios and You have to do a bios backup (for safe) I upload here two tools so You can use both to do backup and then upload here your backups file.
Then You have to reinstall or Win7 or Win8 You know what prefer (I don't know this laptop and drivers presence).
Universal Bios Backup Tool 2.0, upload backup file :

FPT Tool (run it as Administrator) and upload result file :

I will wait your reply.

I haven't done that yet, not sure how.

Also, it seems it needs to contact the server every 20 days and has to be connected to the Internet, or it locks and shows a screen with the company's name & address. This has to be part of UEFI.

I want to be able to resell the laptop, but at this point it's no better than a really expensive doorstop!

If the company implemented a UEFI driver to check and lock, only solution is to use an bios backup from a new laptop and It would be rewrite by SPI Programmer, as I almost difficult to extract it from your.
It mean tha your laptop will be a clone of another Lenovo, with the same serial etc.
Theorycaly It's easy, only need the Eeprom SPI Programmer and good manuality.

Try to ask to Sovem.
