I go in and click the winflash as admin. I click the boot, dmi, and clear cmos buttons. I open the 61AO615, and then hit the update. I say no to the do you want to load it again. The bios update box comes up and sits at zero progress. It doesnt move at all, will sit there for 5 minutes and do nothing. I have to cancel it to get out of it. I will try to load the straight bios from acer again to see if it does anything

All i can think of now mate is that when i modded the bios and saved it it changed some kind of "Identification number" or checksum so the official program wont flash it. For example , official bios has a code 1234 and winflash is programmed to only flash bios with the code 1234. If when i saved my modded one it got the code 12345 instead , winflash wont work

Does your computer have a floppy drive by the way? Because flashing from windows is very risky and can easily corrupt the bios

Nope I dont so I guess I will just move on. I thank you for all you time and effort and will link this forums when ever I get a chance. I tried to use the bios from Acers site but it wont flash either so I think something is corrupted. If you have any other idea let me know, thanks again

I said i wasnt giving up!

http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm Use this guide to make a bootable usb drive and put the awdflash utility and the bios file on the usb. Then boot from the usb drive and type in the dos prompt

awdflash.exe bios.bin /py /sn /cc /r where bios.bin is the name of the bios file

Let me know how it goes Big Grin

Ok let me go out and find a cost effective USB drive. I needed to get one anyway. It might take a few days, but I wont give up either

I was just thinking when I used the disk I typed bios.bin. Should I used the numbers 61AO615? Maybe thats where I went wrong? MEaning instead of this
awdflash.exe bios.bin /py /sy /cc

maybe it should look like

awdflash.exe 61AO615.bin /py /sy /cc

yes it should be like that lol Tongue

Replace bios.bin with the number

greets.

I felt compulsed to write some feedback on this bios.

i stumbled across this thread in my (umpteenth) search for a bios for this mobo, because i have been dealing with several problems. Namely, my pc5300 does not run any faster than pc3100, my PCIe is at 8x and not 16x, and my memory operates in single channel, instead of dual.

FINALLY! i can use my memory at its full rated speed! YAY!

oh happy day! Big Grin
you sir, are awesome. if only the internet were filled with generous and skilled persons of your type...

however, the other previously mentioned problems i have not been able to figure out as yet.

Call it intuition, but i have this vague feeling that the other two problems are linked. according to the specs of the mobo, i am supposed to be able to run 16x pcie, and dual channel ddr2. i can not seem to get anything but single to work, even tho i have matching sticks, and the mobo has color coded mem slots.

my gfx card is an 8800GT, and is 16x capable.

are these bios related problems? any suggestions?

i have yet to try any overclocking, but at least now i can finally use the factory installed memory at its rated speed. a very promising start Wink

Congratulations and thank you for such kind words Smile

Il have a look into the other problems

Like you say , if the card is 16x and the board supports 16x then it should run at 16x Tongue

Just double check that there isnt more than one PCI-E slot on the motherboard as PCI-E slots come in different bandwidths. Your board might have a 16x slot and an 8x slot and generally a few 1x slots too. Make sure that the graphics cards in a PCI-E 16x capable slot on the board.

Il look into the memory for you

And please can you post some photos to encourage the users who are having some trouble Tongue and confirm that the OC options are selectable and changeable?

Also , a step by step guide as to what you did would be much appreciated because , as you can see from the length of this thread, a few users have been having trouble flashing the modded bios.

Kind Regards
Admin
