Help Needed - Lenovo Y500
#1
Hi All

Firstly, in advance i appreciate any help offered.

I recently changed my operating system on my Lenovo Y500 Ideapad to Win7 from Win8 - i had to mod the bios (the WLAN was also flakey so changed this too). This went successful. I recently changed something in the bios and i may of changed something i didn't mean to as it just goes into a loop before bios (power comes on then reboots before lenovo logo). Is there a recovery mode that works anywhere?

I have recently tried fn+r then power on with my bios usb in and it doesn't show the usb flashing although it doesn't loop and the fan is perm on.

Any help would be appreciated, even if its a 'you broke it' reply... at least it would save me time trying to fix it. I also know that this may of been due to my own stupidity, but hey, if we could all turn back time life would be so boring Smile

edit: fyi i would of voided the warranty modding but even though i could of restored previous BIOS, the warranty period has expired by 4 months and i cannot even get into the bios at present Sad

Thank you in advance!

Hi friend,
Lenovo don't offer Bios Recovery ! With my experience I can say never saw Lenovo works with Recovery Bios !!!
I know that there is a UEFI module .efi file to make the recovery, but is sot for users only Lenovo Service or developers have It !
So You have to think about an SPI External USB Programmer look here :

Many thanks for the reply BDMaster!

Yeah, i didn't touch the UEFI module but sadly before the issue arose i set it to boot with Legacy Support Sad If i hadn't of done that i may of been able to recover. I shall try and get a recover method to work and post back should i become successful. Failing that i shall have to purchase some tools and follow the guide you presented Smile

Thank you
