Lenovo X220 Re-add support for 1866Memory possible?
#51
Hello Simpetus,

I again apologize for the delays. I have been busy with school and family over the past week. I *should* have your BIOS mod complete by the end of the week.

~Steven

!!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!! Our Ukrainian friends are undergoing atrocities right now and need support. There are two things you can do for starters:

1.) Donate to one of various organizations offering medical, military, and psychological support to those impacted: Support Organizations

2.) Combat misinformation on social media.

Also, please feel free to PM me if I have not replied again about your BIOS mod request after 5 days.

Clip not good
Cable connection too long
MoBo absorbiment Power too much
Software not working
etc.

So I cannot help You from distance . . .
I am sorry Sad

Look here Kemod Mod :

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...st-removal

It seems the RaspBerry SPI is only able to do this job on X2x0 Laptop, without desolder the Eeprom Chip !
Regards
Clip and cable is OK. I have managed to get in touch with the support, they said that the align of the board in programmer is wrong, it should be opposite. There is a little hole in the board and it should be upwards not downwards. I will try to turn it in right direction when I get home this evening.

Moreover, the support operator said that motherboard should support cold flashing method (flash without unsolder the chip off), but I only need to make a dump, so it should be OK, right?

I understand it is very difficult to solve technical issues on distance. It is OK.

Hello Steven,

You are too kind, thank you very much! Take your time.

But I have a question, how it is possible to make all those possible without me making a full dump of the BIOS (I have TPM installed)

1. Unlocked memory speed 1866 on the systems with active TPM (get rid of "5-5 beeps and delay" problem on start-up without deactivating of TPM itself);

2. SLIC 2.1;
3. No White-list;
4. Working AES-NI (for models that was sold in Russia and other countries that have restrictions in terms of encryption);
5. Working system with 16Gb on board and eGPU (External Graphic Card - for more info click here and here). 16Gb and eGPU works with Bios 1.11, but with new versions the only thing you get is black screen on start-up. I thing it is somehow related to TOLUD size;
6. Unblocked advanced menu in X220 BIOS.

it seems that it is impossible to overcome 5-5 beep issue without getting some more info about TPM and the way it operates (RSA signature, control sum and so on).

There was a guy that said:

Actually unlocking memory frequency was easy and probably can be applied to other models, but this have to be verified individually. Hard part was checksum calculation, figuring that took me some time. I will soon publish tools and describe how to do that.

Saddly there was no any news from him after that post. I stil hope that there will be someone who can help me get all those:

1. Unlocked memory speed 1866 on the systems with active TPM (get rid of "5-5 beeps and delay" problem on start-up without deactivating of TPM itself);

I can provide the dump of my BIOS, that I have made with SPI programmer.
