asus UX302LG bios mods
#1
Hello,

I unfortunately updated my ASUS UX302LG to BIOS version 210.

It disables the SATA device sleep in port 0/1/2 and i'm not able to suspend the laptop eversince. I used AMIBCP 4.53 to open the bios and found the device sleep options so i was able to re-activate them and save the new BIOS.

But i'm unable to upload the modify bios as it tells me the new bios is too old. The version, date of the modified BIOS is the same as the original asus BIOS.

Is it possible to change those values so i can change the version to 211 for instance?

Thanks in advance for your piece of advise.

Download AFUWIN, and either create a pen with Rufus(select DOS), and use the AFUDOS or use the AFUWIN GUI(I use the GUI and never had a problem), then, open the AFUWIN GUI, make sure that there are ZERO windows updates that might make the laptop reboot, disconect from internet, and close all firewall/antivirus, open your moded bios file, and in the setup tab choose program Main BIOS image and check do not chek rom ID, and it will flash with no errors, then reboot your laptop and all should be well.

(08-08-2016, 11:05 AM)Hi senso, thanks for your reply, i tried your solution, i opened asus official bios (also my modified and the previous official version with the same results) and try to flash but i got a error regarding the size of the bios so i clicked on save button in AFUGUI to create a .rom file which was accepted then clicked on flash button i got no error, rebooted the machine but nothing changed so i tried also AFFUDOS with /X param to disable the rom ID check , all 3 steps read write and verify went without errors but it seems the bios rom didn\t changed. If you have another trick, i'm interested.anyway i appre ciate your concern.senso Wrote: Download AFUWIN, and either create a pen with Rufus(select DOS), and use the AFUDOS or use the AFUWIN GUI(I use the GUI and never had a problem), then, open the AFUWIN GUI, make sure that there are ZERO windows updates that might make the laptop reboot, disconect from internet, and close all firewall/antivirus, open your moded bios file, and in the setup tab choose program Main BIOS image and check do not chek rom ID, and it will flash with no errors, then reboot your laptop and all should be well.

2 more things you can try:

open a command prompt as admin in the directory of afuwingui, and type "AFUWINx64.exe [BiosRom] /P /B /K"

If you get some security error or another error, download this version of afuwin: AfuWin = last version to support /GAN command

open a command prompt as admin in the afuwin directory you just extracted and type "AFUWINx64.exe [BiosRom] /GAN"

If that doesn't work, you can always try the older AfuDOS version in that zip and try those 2 commands again!

hopefully this fixes your problem

Hi nnvt,

Thanks for your reply, i already had the latest afudos, afuwinx64 version, i tried the commands but /GAN is not recognised, (i use the one in aptio folder, not aptioV). with  /P /B /K  no errors but no changes, here is a pics of what happened:

after a reboot i'm still with the same bios, it's a shame there is no a updated official BIOS from ASUS for this machine.

I'm not an expert but I think you must remove header from official bios before flashing for matching size (UBUtool). This way you may lose some important information like ethernet MAC address, MOBO UUID, etc.

Correct steps should be like this :

Update to latest BIOS
Load optimal BIOS settings
Save your current bios (AFUWINGUI.EXE or AFUWINx64.EXE CurrentBios.bin /O)
Modify & Save bin file with an editor like AMIBCP
Write bin file to EEPROM (AFUWINx64.EXE CurrentBios.bin /GAN)

Use attached version of AFUWIN for /GAN option.

.zip   AfuWin64.zip (Size: 795.33 KB / Downloads: 61)

Thats the problem, you don't want to use the latest version of afuwinx64 because it no longer supports the /GAN command, you need to download version 3.05.04 if you download that version, afudos AND afuwin should both be able to do /GAN!

if that doesn't work, you have the same problem as me on my N551VW unfortunately. /GAN and /P /B /K both report a good flash but the bios remains unmodified...

Hi nnvt and suicidal, thx for your updates, i finally tried the /GAN option without errors but still no changes
It seems i'm stucked with my current bios like you are with your N551VW due to some kind of protection.

Anyway good luck to you, i'll contact asus to check what they could offer as a solution.
