Unlock Request - 990FXA Gaming V1.4
#1
MSI disabled over clocking features on the AMD 9K series CPUs that use over 200watt. However, thier board does not correctly set the voltage and vdroop level on the FX9590 which results in stability issues. I looked through the bios to try to find a way around this so I can set voltage and vdroop manually and correctly but I don't adequately understand how to do it. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I'm looking to get a way to have the manual clocking features enabled with this processor on this BIOS. Thank you!

Read through some AMI editing docs and figured it out. Used a older program afu version. Edited the options from default to user in the over clocking section and it worked. If anyone else needs help let me know and I'll hook them up with the mod version.

I know this is somewhat of an old thread at this point, but I am in the same position as you are. I have the MSI 990FXA Gaming and the FX 9590. While the processor is technically supported, the VRMs cannot handle the voltage requirements at stock settings, and the BIOS does not permit modification outside of the default settings. You said that you have solved the issue with your BIOS, do you still have the modified BIOS file, and if so, would you be able to upload it? If not, I would sincerely appreciate if you could point in the right direction for me to modify it myself, since the processor is unstable to the point of being unusable. Thanks.

Well, I have figured out how to unlock the BIOS on my motherboard for the FX 9590 using AMIBCP and flashing it with AFUWIN. if anyone else has a similar configuration I would recommend this short tutorial, which includes hyperlinks for AMIBCP and AFUWIN, and should work with most AMI BIOS.
