[Request] Lenovo ThinkStation S10 (Phoenix BIOS) + GTX 550 Ti
#1
Hello everyone.

I would like to request an OPROM mod for the following Phoenix BIOS to support modern GPUs (GTX 550 Ti in my case). It is one of the few LGA775 + DDR3 mainboards out there - and it serves well as a daily driver.

Code:
# dmidecode 3.1
Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs.
SMBIOS 2.5 present.
45 structures occupying 2275 bytes.
Table at 0x000EFBA0.

Handle 0x0000, DMI type 0, 24 bytes
BIOS Information
    Vendor: LENOVO
    Version: 2WKT47AUS
    Release Date: 09/08/2009
    Address: 0xE1CD0
    Runtime Size: 123696 bytes
    ROM Size: 1024 kB
    Characteristics:
        PCI is supported
        PNP is supported
        BIOS is upgradeable
        BIOS shadowing is allowed
        ESCD support is available
        Boot from CD is supported
        EDD is supported
        ACPI is supported
        USB legacy is supported
        LS-120 boot is supported
        Smart battery is supported
        BIOS boot specification is supported
        Targeted content distribution is supported
    BIOS Revision: 1.47

Handle 0x0004, DMI type 4, 35 bytes
Processor Information
    Socket Designation: LGA775/PSC/TJS
    Type: Central Processor
    Family: Core 2
    Manufacturer: Intel
ID: FB 06 00 00 FF FB EB BF
    Signature: Type 0, Family 6, Model 15, Stepping 11
    Flags: .... snip .....
(Core 2 Quad Q6700)

I can confirm that the graphics card works in the bottom PCIe 4x slot (GTX670 for comparison), but cables and airflow are a huge downside. According to this particular answer the OPROM space is the culprit, thus it might be possible to remove PXE boot and filling gaps (holes?) that are reported by PhoenixTool.

Optimally with LGA771 Xeon support baked in - but my hopes for the graphics card part alone are already low, but it's definitely worth a try to post it here.
