[Request] Unlock Bios for Asus TUF FX505DT
#1
HELP!
I have a laptop that is similar to OP. (Asus TUF FX505DT, Ryzen 5 3550h, GTX 1650). For some reason, the laptop idles at around 50 degrees C. Gaming would raise the temps to 90, or 95. Would really like some help in having manual fan control unlocked since that's all I need from this pretty barebones BIOS lol
Latest BIOS for my laptop is attached below in ZIP file.
Thanks!

On my model (FX505DU) you can set the fans to max by installing the armoury crate service and armoury crate app and in there selecting turbo mode.
Or you can just press FN+F5 until you see it on screen.

That's interesting because Turbo mode on my FX505DT does nothing until there is a load detected, at which point the fans spin up.(Armoury Crate and it's corresponding service is installed by default). An example of a load would be a game, or Vegas Pro, or a benchmark. I have already activated it and use it 24/7. What I wanted was manual fan control - to be able to set fan speed (in BIOS or in SpeedFan or in MSI AfterBurner) myself and also to use fan curves in those apps to help offset the high temps. Since my laptop is charging all the time, and I don't care about the noise (I plug in earphones every time while gaming, lol) manual fan control would be a nice addition if someone can hack the BIOS to unlock that particular setting. The other thing I can think of to reduce temps would be to re-apply thermal paste or apply liquid metal, thermal pads around the CPU and GPU, and ensure that the heat pipes have proper contact with the CPU/GPU. But I am currently waiting for some of my tools to arrive, which could take a long time. Hence, the manual fan control option seems best Smile
One other thing I thought of to reduce temps would be to disable the iGPU, the Vega 8/10 completely. This would have a huge effect on thermals since the iGPU is in the CPU die. This is, however, impossible on laptops, which is infuriating for those who run their laptops as stationary desktop replacements. The person that manages to do this is worthy of a Nobel Prize, IMHO ;p

Since on my laptop the HDMI port is connected to the dGPU (NVIDIA in this case) you could theoretically disable the vega if you have an external monitor. The problem is that the BIOS cant post through the dGPU. It would be very nice if someone could mod it but i am not sure if its possible.

Yeah, I noticed that HDR videos played on the laptop's display would look washed out and bleached, while the same HDR video played through HDMI would look gorgeous and correct, even though it was an SDR display (MPC-HC). I won't be able to use an external display in my current situation, as
1. I stay in a university dorm, where they only allow laptops
2. My laptop screen is 120 Hz, and finding the nearest monitor alternative (144hz +) would cost a lot
If my dorm allowed computers here, then I'd bring in my GTX 1660 desktop... I bought my laptop for this reason Smile

Well you can try to force the app to run through the dGPU even on the internal screen. At least the nvidia variant allows that. It will just draw a little more power  Smile

Information
This is the latest BIOS ver.310 Directly from Asus Website
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Gamin...TAS310.zip

main reason I want to unlock
1. undervolt CPU and RAM (for temperature stabilization)
2. iGPU options like disable or enable it or reduce/increase the RAM usage. (option to disable it so i can use the GTX 1650 directly via HDMI)
3. Manual fan Controls (I don't care if its loud like jet engine, I just want the temp down and i wear headset or earbuds anyways)
4. Overclock CPU and RAM (just to see how much i can push the CPU to the limits)

used AMI Firmware Update (AFU) Apito V to save currently installed bios attached in the post

If just a Advanced menu unlock or inject a AMD CBS menu and do overclocking memory a little ,it's possible .Below are menu unlocked screenshots and proof of overclocking memory to ddr4 3000 with FX505DU .
https://239239.blogspot.com/2020/11/fx505ducbs.html

But the author of this thread ,his request was too over and pretty impracticable ,we knew it's almost impossible to overclock cpu in laptop platform ,neither AMD or Intel.
And fan speed are usually be control by EC ,we can't direct set [censored].rpm to changes fan speed on the bios ,what we can do is set up trip point of temperature to limit fan speed in a section .

I also want the possible mod bios for my asus tuf laptop fxf505dt the main reason i want is it support 2400mhz by the ryzen 5 so i want i to unlock and use the ram at 2666mhz that was pre installed in my laptop. And pardon me for my bad English.
