Dual BIOS in Gigabyte MB
#1
Has anyone had problems with a 2.1 SLIC modified Gigabyte MB reverting back to the original configuration by the dual BIOS feature? I had this happen to a PC that I built and I found a discussion on MDL site about it.

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads...-dual-bios

One question I have is there a way to modify the backup BIOS or prevent it from switching?

Normally the Dual BIOS is only triggered when the flash fails or the BIOS is corrupt. Are you positive the SLIC was added successfully?

Sure, It had been used for several months with no problems. I also verified it after the flash using RW everything and another reader program.

One of the common conditions according to that link on MDL and this situation seems to be "Electrical storms and power outages" . I knew there was a backup BIOS, but I thought it would be updated at some point to mirror operational BIOS. I had no idea that it would be the original from manufacture.

Is there a way to update the backup BIOS?

Thanks for the reply.

Well, it's a bit risky but if they aren't soldered you could remove it and flash it elsewhere with the desired BIOS ad then replace the spare chip so when it writes the backup its the BIOS you want. Dod you have another hotswap mobo to do this?
