Samsung NP-R70 v15a With Dell SLIC 2.1/SLP
#1
Hi first off let me say hello.
I am new to this forums so let me introduce myself, I have been playing with computers for over 10 years but although I would love to start bios modding, if I am honest the thought scares me, I cannot seem to figure out how to mod a Phoenix bios, and seeing as "bricking" my notebook does not appeal to me I post the following request to update the slic 2.0 to a slic 2.1 (I would also like to change the boot up screen but that is for a later date.)

Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : Samsung NP-R70 Notebook
-Bios Revision : 15ab
-Bios Type : Phoenix
-Bios SLIC : 2.0 Need 2.1
-Bios Link : http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/do...?CDSite=uk&CttFileID=1424345&CDCttType=FM&ModelType=N&ModelName=NP-R70&VPath=FM/200810/20081001142753750_WIN_R70_15AB.exe

Extracted Bios .WPH http://rapidshare.com/files/264994736/bios.wph.html

-Rw-everything report: http://rapidshare.com/files/263343999/AcpiTbls.rw.html (Sorry only a free user account)

Thanks in advance

Hi Mate

I cant specify enough how risky phoenix modding really is. If your wondering whats required , it involves etracting the bios wph file into all the different parts , then searching them with a hex editor to find the location of the existing SLIC and then replacing it with another slic.

Also , we cant add Samsung SLIC 2.1 as its not available yet. Also , we cant find an existing modify-able SLIC in this bios

Sorry , we are still really experimenting with Phoenix modding!

OK sorry for the delay in my reply, thanks for the info. When you say "we cant find an existing modify-able SLIC in this bios" what is the slic info showing up in the RW Everthing report?

Weird, anyway thanks for taking the time to have a look.
Just a thought but this notebook has two power buttons, the first boots into the normal bios then loads windows, the second button boots into a seperate bios screen (AV Station)
then loads AV Station in windows. (or it would if I had'nt reformated and removed the system recovery partition). Could this meen that the slic has to be read in a diffrent way to normal?

-I strongly suggest using PHLASH16 found in CRISDISK Folder prior to using WINFLASH - Flash Bios in DOS using PHLASH16 and Bootable USB Flash Drive - Rename BIOS_SLIC.WPH to BIOS.WHP and At command prompt, type: phlash16 /x BIOS.WPH
-SLIC: DELL_QA09.BIN 2.1
-SLP: DELL
-DELL Certificate Included
-Modifier: BUSYKID508
-Please provide feedback

CRISDISK Is Included for Bios Recovery

S*d that do it now
I have successfully flashed using busykid's modded bios it flashed 1st time with phlash16 all I have to do now is install windows 7. I will post the result monday 13/08/09 (08/13/09) but I have no doubt that it will activate.

PS. Is there a way to tell weather it will work, by using RW everything?
